10/10 Excellent

"There were several minor issues that were taken care of promptly, although the elevator was out the entire weekend. The air conditioning worked properly and the noise was very minimal. I was in the room next to the ice machine and you couldn't hear anything once the door was closed. The room was good and the bed was comfortable. Being able to walk to two of the areas of the park was also convenient. The front desk staff were pleasant and attentive. Breakfast was a slight disappointment in that the buffet was the only thing they served all three days. When I went in the first day and was told it was buffet only, I specifically asked if this would be the case the next day and they said no, Saturday is traditionally buffet only, but Sunday they allow for ordering from the menu. That was not the case. As there were a couple things I wanted to try, I was disappointed that I couldn't. Since the menu is in every room and posted outside the door, a simple sign saying buffet only when the menu was unavailable would have been appreciated. That said, the food was good, homemade, and they did a good job keeping it refilled. Only recommendation would be to invest in some mesh trays to keep the biscuit bottoms from overcooking on the hot tray and to elevate the bacon out of the grease. (Though the bacon was piled high and very crispy when not at the bottom.) But these are minor quibbles."

"The staff was so friendly and accommodating. They pay attention to their guests and frequently ask if you need anything. Warm breakfast was a treat. The property seems to be new or newly renovated because everything is in great shape. Airport shuttle ran frequents and was on time. We had a great stay!"

"This is a 10. Breakfast for me was dismal. Egg flip with cheese whiz. Sausage patties. Every day. Three days.....never changed. Good orange juice and milk. Real butter !"

"The staff was excellent. The building is an older facility and some wear was apparent. The toilets were low to the ground, not ADA compliant, but there was a grab bar in the tub/shower; the front doors were not automatic, and there were no elevators, although I was fortunately on the first floor. There was handicapped parking."

"Very thoughtfully decorated, historically maintained, and clean accommodations perfect for a short or long term stay. We were able to do laundry and cook Sunday dinner without having to purchase basic kitchen necessities. It’s about a 30ish minute ride to Virginia Tech but a perfect small town getaway for an affordable price during football weekends. We will be back!"

"Room was great - clean and comfortable. Spacious and appreciated the fridge and wet bar area. All of our windows looked over the restaurant so we kept blinds closed the whole time. Also, we were there on a Saturday night and the bass was booming from the club next door til early in the am. I’m sure that is only an issue for rooms in that corner of the hotel. Just something to keep in mind."

"This is the third time we stayed here. The views are beautiful and the restaurant is very good. The rooms are pretty basic and not updated except for new floors and the addition of tv and internet."
