It’s probably the nicest hotel in this area but that’s not saying much. It is clean. The rooms are decent size, but some especially on the 1st floor can have a slight musty smell, though not as bad as in the past. The amenities are very basic. The staff is hit or miss. I had completely different experiences at check in and check out. The 1st time I tried to check in, the staff said my room wasn’t ready. When I asked if another one was available, she curtly said no and that she couldn’t help me because I went through a third party. I’ve never had trouble checking in early here. This was my 1st time booking here through Expedia, so I won’t be doing that again. My 2nd try went fine and the staff was pleasant. On check out, the staff was fine but since I didn’t have time for the free breakfast, I asked for a bottle of water. He said it would be $2 tax. I said I would be back after I put my bags in the car. When I returned, another guy was at the desk. I got a bottle of water, and when I went to pay for it, he kindly said it’s complimentary. In my last 3 stays, I‘ve been told I had to pay for water twice and told it’s complimentary twice. This time different versions in under 5 minutes. Two of the staff with whom I interacted were very pleasant. The other two were ok to borderline rude. Unfortunately there aren’t a lot of decent options in this part of the coast. I will return but hope to be able to write a better review next time. It’s a very basic Hampton and can be hit or miss.
