"This is a cute vintage home in Hilo. It does not have an oven or a dishwasher, which was totally fine for us. Kitchen didn’t have a lot supplies, but we weren’t cooking dinner there. "The house is great. There was an issue which the owners took care of promptly. This place does not have a/c and that is likely my fault. I'm sure I just missed it in the listing. The house wasn't too warm during the day but cooled down and sleeping at night was perfect. It is close to Hilo town. It is close to a general store if you need something and walking distance from a beach that apparently has seals at it frequently. We did not see any this trip. We had the house to ourselves....

"My parents and I rented the cottage for four nights. This was absolutely perfect for our needs and we slept really well. We were able to park our rental car with no problem and the area is loaded with things to see, and do. Restaurants nearby, as well as shopping in town. Many of our stops were 3 to 7 minutes away from the property. This is a much better location than staying up by Volcano. Under 10 minutes to the airport but noise wasn't an issue. Staff was super friendly and flexible to meet our needs. Definitely would recommend to those in a small group that don't want to be separated by rooms in a hotel. "

It put a dent in our tourist activities, though, because we didn’t want to leave! "This has been one of the most special places I’ve ever been to. The sounds of the forest at night are surreal and can touch your soul. I’ve only spent one night at the cabin but I will never forget my time here. The cabins are super cute, clean, and comfortable. The short path to the lodge with bathrooms is marked by some torches on the ground at night. The sky cleared up in the middle of the night so I could enjoy the stars while walking to the lodge. AMAZING."
