"The location and the view are fantastic. A short walk to a couple seaside restaurants and a couple mercados. This place is a bit off the beaten path but We had a rental car which made everything much more practical. The botanical gardens nearby are spectacular and the food there was excellent. "

"I wanted to take my time before writing this review. My partner and I traveled to Puerto Vallarta specifically to stay at the Xinalani Hotel Retreat—the photos looked stunning. We booked the king suite for its private pool and outdoor shower, aiming for a peaceful, private birthday celebration. We expected some bugs, as the website warns about them, so a dragonfly in our suite wasn’t a big deal. But from check-in, we noticed a foul sewage-like smell in the room. When we brought it up, the afternoon manager dismissed our concern, blaming the ocean or possibly a dead animal—off-putting, to say the least. The odor wasn't constant, but with the open-air design, it returned often. Later, we found the smell came from the path beneath our suite. Other issues included collapsing furniture—one piece even hit me—and a mouse in the suite on checkout day. For a place marketed as a luxury retreat, these issues were unacceptable. What frustrated us most was the management’s tendency to explain away problems instead of resolving them. Despite amazing waitstaff and a great daytime manager on 4/18, the overall experience was disappointing. My rule is: would I go back? Sadly, no. Too many problems, not enough accountability. It’s a hard pass."

"Our stay was comfortable, the view was beautiful. I found a hammock on the patio which was a fun place to relax. There wasn’t much fancy or extra but it was good enough for a good sleep and relaxation when we were there. We didn’t try to cook there. It does have a large refrigerator and jug of bottled water. Communication and how to check in was a little slow but we figured it out just fine. It was fun going across the little river on the makeshift bridge. The river trickling right outside was nice, the mountains and all the beautiful flowers were our view. We loved hiking to the hidden beaches. "

"My hubby and I were in town for our 5th anniversary and reserved this gorgeous condo for the week. It was nothing short of amazing! Simply put, it exceeded our expectations. Everything we needed for our stay was provided. The staff was super friendly, very accommodating, and helpful. We definitely want to return next year. "
