The spa’s main area is the Adult Spa. Choose from marble-lined pools of varying temperatures, a larger and deeper alkaline pool and pools filled with therapeutic acidic water from the Radium hot spring. See how long you can stand the hottest pool, which is heated to a scorching 42 C (108 F). Once you’re suitably relaxed, towel off and try the reflexology walk, which is designed to stimulate pressure points on your feet.
For a truly secluded experience, opt for one of the small private pools. Bask in the midday warmth or take in spectacular, panoramic views of the lake from one of the four deluxe private pools.
If you are visiting the pool with children, enjoy splashing around in the family spa. All ages can try shooting down the hydro slide while the shallow section is perfect for toddlers. This is separate to the main Adult Pools, so there is no danger of upsetting those trying to enjoy a moment’s tranquility.
Complete your day with a soothing body treatment. To ensure you leave feeling fresh, pay extra for a hot stone session, facial or a massage provided by an expert therapist. An on-site café serves fresh fruit drinks as well as muffins, scones, salads and sandwiches.
Polynesian Spa is at the southern end of Lake Rotorua, just east from the town centre. The spa is open daily. Bring your own towel and swimsuit or rent them from the spa. Full day packages, including time in the private spas and massage treatments, can be purchased.
