Enter a strange and mysterious world of shrunken heads, 19th-century vampire killing kits and other fascinating curios at this fun and quirky museum.
Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditorium is a showcase of unusual items housed inside a ship that appears to be sinking. Some of the exhibits were collected by Robert Ripley, an illustrator who used to travel the world collecting such oddities as human skulls and bone artifacts.
Give yourself at least a couple of hours to see the collection of approximately 500 pieces. View camel bone carvings, a limousine covered in gold coins and a prehistoric shark jaw. Marvel at the 8-feet (2.4-meter) tall sculpture of Captain America, made entirely from scrap car parts. Study the components of a 19th-century vampire killing kit, used by American travelers going to Eastern Europe.
Look at the shrunken heads and inspect the iron maiden. This medieval torture chamber is a body-sized casket with metal spikes on the inside. Other exhibits include a piece of coal salvaged from the Titanic, a depiction of Spider Man painted on spider webs and a rare two-headed fox.
In addition to the bizarre exhibits, Ripley’s hosts some other exciting attractions. Tighten your seat belts and prepare for a bumpy ride inside the 7D Moving Theater. Motion seats and digital effects put you into the heart of the movie adventures, one featuring pirates and the other, zombies.
Challenge yourself in the Impossible LaseRace. Here you get to test your speed and agility as you navigate a maze of green lasers against the clock. Take the Mirror Maze Challenge and try to find your way out of a maze of more than 100 mirrors.
The odditorium is situated on Beach Front Road, the main coastal strip running through Panama City Beach. There is no public transport to the attraction, but drivers can park for free in its parking lot.
Ripley's Believe It or Not! Odditorium is open daily and admission charges apply. There are separate charges for the 7D theater, mirror maze and LaseRace, but you can save money with a combination ticket.
