Plan the perfect family reunion or getaway in this one-of-a-kind 2,800 sq ft. historic home. Built in 1927 by the famous Scripps family in the unique "storybook" style; the home has been remodeled with the latest features to enhance its old world charm. This large house features an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, 5 separate bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and loads of outdoor patio space, providing the ideal mix for both quiet relaxing and fun social time. During the summer season, rentals run from Saturday to Saturday.
Located in the heart of Pacific Beach (PB) San Diego's premier beach destination, the location can't be beat. Pack your wagon with surf and sand toys and head west for 2 blocks to the Pacific Ocean. Or, switch gears and head south 2 blocks to Mission Bay for a leisurely bike ride or to read a book on the sand. Forget something at the store? Ralph's supermarket is a 5 min. walk away, as are a wide variety of restaurants and shops for every taste.

This property is located in a quiet, single family neighborhood.
The owner lives on-site in an adjacent apartment. We only rent to responsible groups, primarily families. This is not a "party house".
Guests MUST observe QUIET hours from 10PM to 7AM.
Individuals under 30 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
NO SMOKING AND NO PETS.
Check in 4:00 pm on date of arrival and check out is 10:00 am on date of departure unless other arrangements are made with owner.

Our favorite SD house!

We love this house so much, it was our second time staying. The location is perfect and the charm of this house is everything. The backyard is surrounded by lush plants and is the perfect hangout after a long morning at the beach. Will be back again next year!

The location of the house was absolutely fabulous! It was an old English Tudor-style house that I loved. The grandkids, on the other hand, thought it was just old, but they loved the pool and the hot tub on the rooftop! It was easily walkable to the beach and restaurants. The host, was nice and available when needed. We had a great time there!

Graduation Weekend

Our daughter graduated from USD and we stayed at this beautiful story book home! It was the perfect home with so much character and charm. Ryan was an amazing host, very attentive with quick responses. Would recommend this home for sure!!

Best spot in San Diego

Fantastic pool and location

Very cool classic house with beautiful pool area and rooftop hot tub. Can’t beat the location just a block from the beach! Really enjoyed our stay, quiet peaceful neighbourhood.

Great Location for Family Gatherings

We came to SD for daughters college graduation. This home was PERFECT. Tremendous charm throughout the house. Outdoor space was amazing for entertaining. Parking was excellent (important for beach area properties). All the beds were very comfortable. Would absolutely stay here again.

Great place for fiftieth wedding anniversary celebration

This was a great place to bring together our children, their partners and our grandchild for a week. There was lots of room for everyone to find their own space or to gather for meals, conversation or a pool game. The small swimming pool was a big hit with the grandkids. There were many retail and grocery stores nearby as well as restaurants, bars and ice cream stores. And the beach was just a short walk with amazing sunsets that the whole family enjoyed. Highly recommended.

Amazing Stay At Storybook House

My wife and I stayed at the Storybook house with our 5 kids and our friends with their 3 children (12 people total). There was more than enough room in the house for all of us to stay and it is an amazing location for accessing both the ocean or the bay. Thank you Ryan for being such an accommodating host. Will definitely stay here again in the future.

Great Property, Location and Amenities

Had a get together with old friends from the East Coast. Great week, the house was very comfortable and had everything we needed including bikes which were a great hit given the many miles of trials on the bay and Pacific ocean within minutes of the house. Hot tub was fantastic and the layout was very accommodating.

A Storybook Week!

We had a lovely time at the Storybook House. The location was perfect - so easy to get to the beach, the bay, the grocery store and coffee shops and restaurants. Our 3 small grandchildren loved the pool - and our gathering place for every meal was at the patio table. Ryan was extremely accommodating - we had everything we needed, and more!

Very quaint cottage style house with plenty of room for our large group. Great location! Two blocks from the beach and restaurants and grocery store. Parking for more than two vehicles was a challenge but not terrible. Prefect place to celebrate my daughter’s graduation from UCSD!

Wonderful House for a large family group.

Three generations including four children 7 years and under stayed together. The house accommodated all of us in comfort. The kitchen was well equipped allowing us to cook substantive meals. The bedrooms were well furnished and the three and a half baths were very convenient. The living and dining areas were pleasant with some interesting decorative touches. The pool is not deep but perfect for our group and the rooftop hot tub was a nightly attraction. The garden area was attractive with a large border of Birds of Paradise plants. The house was clean and fully ready for us to enjoy.Ryan was an excellent host and always responded quickly and helpfully. I would highly recommend this lovely old house for any larger group.

Charming and unique

This was a lovely home and Ryan was wonderful. There are many uneven stairs but if you’re sure footed the charm more than makes up for it. There was plenty of room, the beds we’re comfortable and the counter space was plenty. It was wonderful for the family dinners that we had. I will definitely return.

Best Vrbo property I've rented

If I could give this property more than five stars I would. Better than the listing. The owner was very pleasant and maintains the house in tip-top condition. Gorgeous place with oak beamed ceilings and excellent furnishings. Everything looks "storybook" in the house except the kitchen, bathrooms, pool and hot tub. Those look new or close to it - all high quality marble, granite, etc. Choose this place! You won't regret it.

Great house for large family getaway

What a great charming old house. Lots of rooms and space for a family vacation. Awesome large modern kitchen for cooking tons of food for the family. Outdoor space is perfect to enjoy the warm San Diego weather. The owner Ryan is super responsive for any needs and lives next door. 2 parking spots are provided, but even finding street parking wasn’t hard in case you have more cars. Neighborhood is very quiet, not like a block over with all the cars and beach traffic. I highly recommend this property!

The perfect storybook cast for a multi generation vacation

This is the perfect place to stay with grandparents, children and grandchildren. Walkability to the beach, grocery and restaurants was fantastic. The young adults loved the hot tub and pool table and our granddaughter loved the pool. Ryan is an exceptional host and answered all of our questions and helped us feel comfortable and at home. ( Including a new puzzle when we told him how we love to do puzzles on vacation!) We wanted to comment on the heat as someone had mentioned it in a previous review. It was in the low 60s during the day and low 50s at night and the heater in the front room sufficiently heated the whole house and there were tons of extra blankets. It was very comfortable and the five bedrooms allowed us to spread out and be together but still have space. We had a fabulous two week holiday that was simply magical.

Excellent Property

This was our third stay at this property and we would have stayed longer but it was only available for 2 1/2 weeks. It’s an excellent location being a short walk to the ocean or the bay, and only 2 blocks to the grocery store. If you want to stay home there is a spacious private back yard with plenty of seating as well as a roof top deck with a hot tub. This was a family vacation with our son and daughter, their spouses, and 2 grandchildren. Everyone had their own space and we never felt crowded. The owner, Ryan, has always been very friendly and available, but we have never required any assistance during any of our stays. We can’t wait to return. This is a beautiful home

Wow. Just book it. Don't look elsewhere.

We got in and hopped out of the car at 7pm. We made it to the beach in time to see the sunset at 7:03, with a minute or two to spare. Ralph's grocery store is 2 blocks away, the Tuesday Farmer's Market is 2 blocks away, the marina is 2 blocks away, the beach is 2 blocks away. Seriously, this location cannot be beat. You can see the ocean from the rooftop deck, and the house is very spacious. We did not use the pool, but the hot tub was wonderful after days of hiking and kayaking in La Jolla. Downtown San Diego is just a short, easy drive away. Terrific restaurants are easily within walking distance if you do not feel like using the well-stocked kitchen. Ocean toys, wagons, bikes, and now a cooler are at your disposal. This place is amazing.

Fantastic Experience

We recently had the pleasure of staying at a delightful VRBO property located at Pacific Beach, San Diego, and it was an absolute treat for our family gathering. As a family of ten, with two teenagers and two younger children, finding a place that caters to everyone's needs can be challenging, but this house was more than up to the task. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The house itself is spacious and well-appointed, ensuring that each member of our family had their own comfortable space. The layout of the home was perfect for family gatherings as well as offering quiet nooks for some alone time, which is essential when traveling with a large group. The location of the property is a highlight in itself. For families with children and teenagers, this house is a dream. The younger ones had ample space to play and explore safely, while the teenagers appreciated the proximity to local hotspots and the independence that afforded them. In terms of amenities, the house left nothing to be desired. The kitchen was well-equipped for family meals, bedrooms were cozy and well-maintained. We highly recommend this home.

Adorable home with plenty of space for our intergenerational family vacation that sits on a quiet street just blocks from the beach and shops. We particularly loved the perfect outdoor patio for relaxing, eating and hopping in the pool.
