“Beautiful house and a very friendly host who is clearly a great cook. Superb breakfast and lovely touches like a glass of fizz and canapés on arrival. Homemade sourdough bread is amazing. Will definitely use it again if back in the area. ”
“Lovely breakfast and cooked to perfection. Lovely hosts. The room we had was good quality with access to a lounge with a very large selection of travel and art reference books..very nice”
“Absolutely beautiful hotel. Traditional architecture and lovely period features. We booked a "small" double room, however nothing felt cramped or compromised. Super comfy bed, and room meticulously clean and well presented. Our host Adam was very friendly, professional and helpful and we felt very welcomed. Would not hesitate to book again. 10/10 x ”
“The Royal Oak has a wonderful location in a quiet village setting and visitors can expect a relaxing change of pace. The countryside around is spectacular for England and the people are without exception friendly and helpful. I'm perhaps biased because my family lived in Gt Ayton in the early 19th Century and although I was born in North Yorkshire today, as a visiting southerner it's very much my home ground. This was my third or fourth visit and I thoroughly recommend The Royal Oak to tourists,……
“Spotlessly clean, off street parking and a pub just up the road.
Hosts that are friendly and helpful, comfy bed and plenty of coffee and tea and a breakfast that is second to none.
If you're stopping in Scarborough I can highly recommend this hotel.

“Amazing, got to be the best B&B in Scarborough. Used for a one night stopover, definitely need to return for a longer stay.
Comfortable room, great staff and breakfast an absolute feast.”
“Small hotel but rooms excellent.
Breakfast out of this world, spoilt for choice and beautifully cooked with local produce and home made bread.
Charlotte and Karen can’t do enough to make your stay. ”
“We loved the ambience and the friendlyness of The Witching Post was understanding. Pete and his staff are kind, efficient and cannot do enough for you. we thoroughly enjoyed or time there and would love to go back some time.”
“Loved the B&B, owners were friendly, rooms clean and it is such a quaint setting. Stone throw away from train station. Food was lovely. Set in a small village so it’s quiet. It is quite hilly so be aware if you have mobility issues. ”
“Lovely room, comfortable bed with all facilities needed. Really nice cooked breakfast with many options. Very well run by a lovely couple. Convenient for travel, bus stop outside the door for buses to Whitby and surrounding area. Well recommended. ”
"We were given a room inferior than what we booked. Apart from that breakfast was nice, room was clean. Checked on at 3 but room only available after 4."
