Run Away. Do Not Stay Here
Dirty and poorly maintained. Host was on property upon our arrival, at 4:30 PM, attempting to replace the kitchen faucet. Cleaning supplies, piles of rubbish, and yard care equipment strewn all around the property. Personal hygiene items in bathroom. Appeared as if there was someone living underneath the home. Broken down motorcycle at the entry, a trailer filled with trash on the driveway. Zero resemblance to the advertising photos and write up. We left to consult with VRBO Customer Support Team. We filed a complaint, and requested a refund. We returned to the property to advise the host we were cancelling. That was at 7:30 PM, three hours after our initial arrival. The host was still working on the kitchen faucet! Do not believe any of the "10" ratings received on this property. Rather look at the "2" ratings, those are probably real, and not fake ratings. Run away from this place! I have photos and will swear an affidavit on the veracity of my opinions.

Scam alert this property doesn’t exist
This property does not exist. “Derek” asked me days earlier to pay outside of Vrbo to save money - fortunately my friend and I decided not to do this. I contacted Vrbo and asked them to validate this host and property and they told me I was guaranteed this wasn’t a scam. The day we were supposed to arrive Derek did not respond to calls to confirm his directions - when we got closer to the property I continued to text him to see if he e were in the right place.l ( the mailbox had the corr cut 3070 number there but we saw no home ) it was dark so we drove up the driveway injury to find a truck bed covered with tarp and a black grays blocking the way so we could drive no further and as I got out and looked around there was np home in sight, I texted the host a picture and said if we did not hear from him I would report as scam. It took him about an hour to respond and my friend and I were already in a new hotel - his peeps se was asking us to “leave the premise” - of which there was none. I received my full refund back from Vrbo but honestly my friend and I were put in a very dangerous situation and if Vrbo doesn’t figure out how to vet their hosts better someone is going to need up hurt.

Great location- property needs some love
First off, the location is beautiful! Incredible views and close to vineyards and Solvang. We enjoyed sitting out on the porch and looking at the scenery . The host provided a complimentary bottle of wine which was a fantastic way to start our trip. The property itself needs a little love. Wires hanging out of the walls, walls need a good wash down and/or a fresh coat of paint. The furniture is a bit worn. Not sure if it was due to holes in the screens but there were little fruit flies and gnats. The property manager did say the cleaning crew had to leave early and while nothing was terribly dirty it just seemed things were a bit overlooked. The dirty dishes were still in the dishwasher from the previous guests which we didn’t realize until we went to load it on the morning we were leaving and couldn’t load all of our dishes. There were some cigarette butts out on the patio. So while there wasn’t anything huge to complain about, the property could use a little love because it has the potential to be excellent.

Private ranch getaway
Situated on a private ranch nestled near Los Olivos we were able to enjoy a fantastic weekend in the lush greenscape the winter rains have provided this season. The views from the property are spectacular and it provided us the opportunity to relax in the countryside- yet take advantage of all of the wineries and restaurants in Santa Ynez valley close by. Nice property for a couple or a tight knit family to enjoy.

Beautiful view but not clean and needs work
The owner was friendly and beautiful view. Unfortunately the home is out of date and not clean. There were cobwebs throughout the house, the pantry had expired foods, when walking with bare feet you could feel the dirt, the dishes in the cabinets were dirty, the microwave needs cleaned, walls dirty and need painted, the bathroom shower needs cleaned as well as the shelves and light fixtures. There is no hot but at this property. And the landscaping at the bottom of the house was in disarray. To top it off we there was a mouse in the house. The bathroom sinks did not have hot water. The sectional sofa came apart every time you sat on it and under the sofa it was filthy (we tried to fix it). They could use a good electrician because there were extension cords throughout the house. The beds were poor quality. I would love to have given a better review but I believe the owners need to do a lot of work to bring this home up to what they are charging.

Outstanding retreat at the Wine Valley cottage
My wife and I have been fortunate to vacation at several spots around the world. I can honestly say that the Wine valley cottage is one of our favorites, truly, a peaceful oasis that can recharge the soul. Nick, the property manager and owner, is one of the nicest men I have ever met. He will go out of his way to ensure that you have whatever you need to enjoy your time there. The cottage has incredible views, and is close to everything you would need to enjoy your time up there. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Time waster - do not book!
2 weeks out from my stay the owner messaged me to say he was cancelling my reservation due to some issue with the property but did not cancel the reservation in VRBO. So I did not get my refund. He did not respond to any messages. I had to call VRBO a couple of times and finally got my refund way after the date of my stay. The property looks great from the photos but save yourself the hassle and book with an owner that actually pays attention to how VRBO works.

Host refused entry at the gate, unilaterally cancelled reservation, spoiled a family vacation
We followed instruction to a tee, calling from the Solvang grocery store about 50 minutes prior to our anticipated 4:30PM arrival. We were told everything was great, looking forward to seeing us. When we arrived at the property, the final entry gate was locked, the entry voice call box had no response, the code inoperative, and only an answering machine in response to phone calls. My wife went up with the friendly dog who greeted us, and while meeting a friendly, calm elderly individual, did not get any indication of a pathway to resolution. After ultimately connecting on a call, we got a response that someone would come down to open the gate, but also learned that that 20 minutes after our grocery store call when everything was great we had been texted about a "medical emergency" but we had not seen the text. The request was to come back after 5, and even waiting at the gate until after 5 with a car full of groceries, rather than personal communication we received a text to go away and then got an email notice of refund of our 6 day stay fee. While VRBO tried to get us back on our feet with a hotel, it certainly disrupted our family vacation in a major way. The statement the proprietor made to VRBO was that they cancelled because we were running around their property yelling and banging on doors, but interestingly the nature of the medical emergency had changed. This was a grotesque exaggeration of my kindly wife trying to see if anyone was home. Do some homework.

An hour prior to check we received an email from the property owner canceling our stay and refunding our money leaving us stranded 2500 miles from home with no place to stay…they claim a water leak but did not even offer the property to us for the other nights after the leak could have been repaired…very disappointing that we did not receive a phone call to let us know the news…had we not checked our email we would have arrived unknowing…had to pay over $2000 more to find similar last minute accommodation…very poor host communication and no follow up Or apology to make sure we had found another place or offer to help us find another place…beware booking with them

HOST COMPLETELY NON-COMMUNICATIVE
This was a TERRIBLE experience. Earlier I had asked questions of the host that were never responded to. 2 weeks prior to our stay, I began again to email and voicemail and, again, he didn't contact me. VRBO tried as well, with no response. A woman answered 1 number and said the host had left several days ago, she didn't know where, could not reach him and did not know when he would return. She told me that someone else was now the host. He did not respond either. We were enamored of the property, so took a chance and headed up. My daughter and I were about an hour away from the property when I got an email from the "new" host, saying that the reservation had been cancelled due to a leak and flooding, an excuse we did not believe for a minute. I again phoned the "new" host to express my unhappiness and this time he answered. He was uncertain who I was and what I was calling about; he told me to call back in an hour and then hung up on me. I received an email from the "host" informing me that because I had not completed the reservation or paid, they did not respond to me. I sent 2 emails that confirmed my reservation, from months ago, and confirmed that I was paid in full. He said he "misunderstood." WHAT DOES TH AT MEAN?!" Still considering thie property? Check out another quest's end of June review.

An unfortunate experience
The date of our arrival, I received a notification a few hours before the 4 pm check-in, that the AC did not work. The host acknowledged the house was “unbearable” due to the hot weather. Communication between myself and the host was challenging due to his inadequate responses between 2:30 pm - 8:30 pm. I called multiple times to only receive his voice mail. When I was able to get him on the phone, he was very apologetic and gave the impression he was trying his best to resolve the matter. Though I was able to communicate with him via text message, he was positive and supportive and then he would be condescending and sarcastic, which was frustrating. Ultimately, the host suggested I reserve a hotel, due to the AC not functioning and it was ambiguous as to when or if it would be fixed. As a result, I requested a full refund and the host agreed. I scrambled to secure a hotel for our trip (at 9 pm). The following day was challenging to secure a refund. I contacted VRBO for assistance and provided them with screen shots of our text messages. He was finally able to process my refund and he sent me a screen shot showing his part of the refund. He made it clear not to contact him further. During this ordeal, I received an apology, an offer for a complimentary dinner, but mainly empty remedies from the host. I wouldn’t be surprised if the host leaves an unfaltering response, as it would be indicative of his character.

Very Disappointed Overall Experience
My wife and I stayed in the cottage for three nights celebrating our wedding anniversary at the end of June and unfortunately it was our worst VBRO experience ever. Started out at check in with dirty floors in bathrooms and kitchen, the kitchen counter and frig were also dirty. When we went to sleep on the first night we pulled back the sheets in the master bedroom to see a green vapor laying on the sheet…… We immediately moved to the second bedroom and slept there, not sure if those sheets were clean. It took several hours to get a response from someone and requested both sets of bed sheets be washed. The hot tub is not a hot tub, it is an oversized rubber pool that has no water circulation and when removing the cover you will find brown water with scum floating on the top. We tried to use the outdoor gas grill on our last night and within minutes of starting to cook the propane ran out, just to have a second propane tank next to the grill that was also empty. Unfortunately we lost a good meal, but based on the overall accommodations, we couldn’t be shocked. To round out the weekend my wife left a pair of shoes behind so I called (goes straight to VM) left a VM and texted several times to Nicholas and the other associate and never received a response. Now 3wks later, several attempts to get a response and still nothing. After +15 VBRO experiences this was one to forget.

Perfect location near Los Olivos
I had the pleasure of renting Nicholas’s guest house for a two-day event, and I must say it was an incredible experience. The space was not only comfortable but also well maintained, creating the perfect ambiance for our wine exploration starting point. The host was exceptionally responsive and accommodating. They went above and beyond to ensure that our needs were met, providing helpful suggestions and ensuring a seamless experience throughout. Their attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction were truly commendable. The house itself was well-equipped. The setup allowed our group to comfortably socialize and enjoy our time while still maintaining an intimate atmosphere. The overall aesthetic was tastefully done, adding to the overall charm of the house. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone seeking a memorable and enjoyable moment. Was a great location with views of the hills and private. Loved saying hi to the friendly neighbor dog;). Easy drive to wine tasting and solvang/los olivos/Santa ynez. The complimentary bottle of wine was nice and having a wine fridge was handy for when we bought a bottle in town.

Serene Getaway
The location was stunning, and there was nothing like waking up to the beautiful rolling hills. It was precisely what my friend and I were looking for in a Birthday getaway. The house was quiet and calm, and the perfect place to land after a day in Los Olivos and Santa Ynez. There was a little hiccup in the check-in time, but Nic was able to remedy this and the rest of our stay was perfect. I would definitely recommend this property!

We enjoyed our stay here. As we drove up we were greeted by Boady a very friendly dog who lives on site. The property has a private driveway, is safe and is situated on the top of a hill with beautiful views all around. Located five minutes from Los Olivos where most wineries and restaurants are. We enjoyed our experience. Thank you.

Beautiful & Relaxing
While it was a bumpy start with a slightly delayed check-in, the property and Nic ended up providing us with an amazing stay! The home had all the comforts, amenities and lounging space we expected; it was warm, comfy and so very quiet. The surrounding nature was stunningly beautiful. We enjoyed indoor and outdoor dining, hill-top sunset and sunrise watching, the fire pit and star-gazing. My girlfriends and I agreed we'd love to return to continue exploring this beautiful area. We would highly recommend this house for a relaxing time enjoying Los Olivos, wine and nature! Thanks, Nic!

BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS AND CLOSE TO EVERYTHING
Nicolas was a great host and easy to communicate with. This property was more beautiful than I imagined. We will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to our friends. The kitchen was fully loaded with everything you need and the beds were very comfortable.
