House not available

We scheduled the stay and got the official VRBO e-mail, but when we mailed him *using the reservation* on the day of the stay in order to get the check-in info he said he had never heard of us and had not gotten any info from VRBO. I'm not sure how he thought he got our message then, but he wasn't even apologetic, just "Not my problem, I never got the info." He said the place already had other guests in it, I imagine through AirBnB and he just didn't see the double-booking, but what had been planned as a week by the beach turned into an hour trying to figure something out with VRBO and a lame three days in an airport hotel (definitely not the beach!). VRBO was very helpful in trying to make it right, and we did get our money back and they took care of us (since it was completely the host's fault), for which we are very grateful, but when you schedule a vacation, you don't want to find out that the host has taken a better offer and not told you! It might be a great house, but I wouldn't take a chance on it--or at least get the host to respond in writing and not assume things are ok since he's taken your money. I think this host should be kicked off the service. (Unless VRBO finds that they really did fail to e-mail him, in which case he should take it up with them and get this review removed).
