I booked on Expedia as usual, but was shocked to find the hotel was an old 14 story building in a disused part of town. I almost drove on, but it was paid and I said what the heck. So glad I did because I fell in love with the place. It was abandoned for 30 years and completely refurbished in 2012. More like the cool old hotels in NYC, it is like stepping back in time. I was in the 13th floor (I know, right?) and the room was plush with plush robes and towels and a super comfortable bed. I had the best sleep of the trip. I did not partake, but the Grill Restaurant in the lobby smelled awesome! Everybody was great and despite the rumors, I did not experience any paranormal activity!
If you get a chance, give Hotel Settles a visit. It will be a highlight of your trip!
