Best and Worst Times to Visit Sedona

Spring is one of the best times to visit Sedona. Between March and May, the temperatures range between the 60s and 80s F, and the desert flowers are in full bloom. However, because this is one of the most pleasant times of year to rendezvous in the city, rates tend to be higher. Fall is another popular season to visit as the temperatures linger between 70 and 80 degrees F.

While the Sedona summer temperatures aren’t as high as they are in other areas of Arizona at this time, they do hover in the high 90s F for most of June, July, and August. As for the wintertime, temperatures drop to the 50s F, but the desert city doesn’t usually get any snowfall. If you don’t mind the cooler weather, visit during this season and you’ll score some of the lowest rates.

Things to Do

During your jaunt to this scenic destination, explore the landscape and marvel at the natural land formations. If you’re the hiking type, check out of the many trails around town. Soak up the panoramic views of the red rocks on the Cathedral Rock Trail, or hike around Boynton Canyon to see Native American ruins. You may also hear about the vortexes while you’re in town, which are said to be energy that’s emitted from the rock formations. Join a tour or ask around for directions to some of the most famous ones in the area and experience the force for yourself.

While you’re in Sedona, check out some of the cultural attractions, too. Spend an afternoon browsing the shops, galleries, and restaurants in the Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village. Exploring the Palatki Heritage Site is another popular thing to do in town. This area is home to the Hopi tribe cave dwellings that date back to the 12th and 13th century. Top off your getaway with a visit to the Sedona Heritage Museum before resting up at one of the best Sedona resorts.
