Monarch Valley Inn Marina at Monterey Bay

Monarch Valley Inn Marina at Monterey Bay

8/10 Good
"The motel is solid for the price. It was well lit and felt safe at night. The king room I’d booked was also fairly spacious and was decorated quite nicely. Unfortunately, there were a few hairs that were not mine in the sheets when I’d lifted the covers for the first time. In addition, for those booking the downstairs king bedrooms, the footsteps in the rooms above can sound rather loud due to the laminate flooring, though thankfully the guests above me were not running around, and so it wasn’t as loud as it could have been. Although a much smaller concern, there was no conditioner available, even after I’d asked the front desk. I’m unsure if they were just out the one night I was there or if only shampoo and soap are supplied in each room. Breakfast is free but on the lighter side and consisted of one banana, tangerine, granola bar, madeline, and yogurt per person in a brown to-go bag, as well as free coffee. For those unaware, check in is at the back of the gas station and can be accessed through a glass door to the left side of the automatic sliding door entrance to the gas station mini mart. There was a gas station in the same lot as the motel, with a wall serving as a divider between the gas station and the rooms for some privacy. While it was convenient being able to grab snacks and gas before hitting the road, there were some cars during the night that would either drive by loudly or make a lot of noise while filling up. Overall a good stay and was worth it."

"Great location for exploring Monterey and Carmel! We had a great stay at Lone Oak Lodge during our trip along the California coast. The location was ideal for exploring both Monterey and Carmel, giving us a convenient base to visit the surrounding area. We stayed for one night before continuing our journey south along Highway 1 towards Los Angeles. It was a perfect overnight stop and fitted really well into our road trip. Overall, a great location and a convenient place to stay when exploring this beautiful part of California. We would happily stay here again!"

Motel 6 Soledad, CA

Motel 6 Soledad, CA

8/10 Good
"This was our first Motel 6 experience and I was pleasantly surprised. Pinnacles NP does not have any lodges/hotels in the park, so Soledad was a good choice when you are visiting on the West side of the park. The drive is about 25 minutes to the park. We took a room on the backside of the building away from the traffic. My sister did get woken up by the roosters. They give you 2 pillows per person so if you want additional you have to pay extra. There was a minifridge and a microwave in the room. We had to call housekeeping x2, once for toilet paper and one morning they took all our towels and did not replace them. They were quick to respond. There was a restaurant on their property, called the Windmill. Excellent food and service. We had 3 dinners there. The Motel was in a great location. Supermarket, gas, Good will, CVS MC Donalds, all so close, just a few minutes drive."
