The State House Inn is a value proposition and that is clear from the rooms and throughout. In other words, it is providing basic affordable accommodations. It is not a luxury resort. Our suite had a large seating area and a separate bedroom. Even though it was on the second floor, it felt more like a garden apartment because all we had for light was a narrow window that began 3/4 way up the wall and looking onto the hvac system. If you want a view. avoid #201. There were stains on one of the chairs and on the carpet. It wasn't dirty, but there was no denying that everything had been used heavily. There was a table beside a wall that previously held a built-in. We could tell there had been a built-in because it hadn't been fully patched. Even though we had coffee, we had no coffee maker. And there were no garbage cans. A weird aspect was that because of some town ordinance, there are no soap or shampoos in the rooms: you have to ask for them at the front desk. Apparently a Springfield believes it better for the environment that people smell. For all that, it was a room; it was tidy; it was clean; we slept undisturbed; and we carry on.
