"Management has issues"
I love Jolly Beach Resort. Lovely beach, lovely overall facilities restaurant staff helpful and the nightly entertainment is precious. However on my most recent stay there was no porter to help with our luggage to and from the room. The front desk gave me wrong keys to the room. It was not pleasant taking luggage up and down the narrow stairs. The manager was apologetic and was professional in responding to our complaints.

"Romantic Getaway Gem!"
My boyfriend and I spent a long 4 day weekend on a romantic getaway here! This place is an absolute gem! Its a quick 20 minute shuttle ride from the airport to the hotel. Upon arrival the hotel general manager upgraded us to the deluxe cottage with private infinity pool!! Thank you Thank you Thank you!! We couldn't even believe our eyes how breathtaking this resort is. It is quaint, classy, sophisticated, magical and romatic; all-around a 1st class experience in one of the most gorgeous places on earth! Cuisine was incredible. There is an extensive breakfast & lunch buffet each day. In the evening there is a 4 course dinner menu that changes every night! The service/ presentation of every meal was 5-star. Portions were perfection! If that doesn't suit your fancy Sheers Rock Restaurant is here as well. we never opted to eat there but the menu looked great (pricey though); a great place to grab a drink! The views from every part of this resort were breathtaking. What I loved the most though is the fact that the island landscape, vegetation and beaches were pristinely preserved. You feel like you are on your own untouched, private island and yet you can go to the bar and chat it up with great people from all over the world. I also loved the tropical weather; rain on the cottage roof to sleep to every evening! Pure paradise! Only reason I rated room cleanliness a 4 and not a 5 was because we had a bit of an ant problem in our bathroom. Do not bring food into the room!

"lovely rooms with beautiful climate"
This was our second time in Antigua. The change in climate by staying on the windy Atlantic coast was marked, much nicer and much less humid, and the evenings were particularly nice. The resort beaches are accessible and safe, though the water very shallow and not great for swimming. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. There is a good selection of inclusive food and drink though not enough quality to make this a highlight of the holiday. The hotel is very remote - we had a car - but without one you would be totally reliant on expensive hired cars or organized tours to get anywhere on the island. Finally, this was much more a resort setting than our previous destination, and although not crowded by any stretch, was at times a little noisy on the beach or restaurant. Overall we liked it through it was difficult to compare with a more expensive, more secluded, and quieter resort - we just concluded it was just that, different and good it it's own way. Would consider going again

"Great views, beautiful beach."
We enjoyed our stay a lot -- great location, very comfortable lodging, great staff. But I would have to say some sloppiness around the edges -- no forewarning that the pool was under construction and so unusable, and broken umbrellas on the beach, as two examples -- which was unexpected given reputation and price. And while certainly acceptable or better, food was uneven in our view, breakfast and lunch much better than dinner.

"Wonderful beach, pity about the sea."
British Airways has moved from Harrods to Woolworths, and we all know what happened to Woollies, gradually now becoming a budget airline. Transfer from Airport to resort can be a bit of a "white knuckle ride", also drivers knowledge on locations of pot-holes.

"SUNRISE ON THE BEACH"
OUR ROOM WAS ON THE GROUND FLOOR ON THE ATLANTIC SIDE, WHAT A TREAT TO BE ABLE TO WALK OUT EVERY MORNING ON TO THE BEACH TO WATCH THE SUNRISE. IT WAS VERY WINDY ON THIS SIDE OF THE PROPERTY BUT WE COULD ALWAYS WALK ACROSS TO MAMORA BAY FOR SOME WARMTH. WATER SPORTS WERE AVAILABLE THERE, BEACH BAR, RESTAURANT. WE ENJOYED THE ALL INCLUSIVE FOOD AND DRINKS.

"Lovely picturesque upscale resort"
This resort is perfect for those who want to relax and unwind with mostly couples and few children when we stayed late Feb/early March The only activities are water sports- There is no gym and only one restaurant currently, although there are plans to expand, and not much to do in the evenings after dinner except visit the small lobby bar The food was excellent, better than we have experienced on most other islands The landscaping is lovely and small beach easily accessible , which never seemed too crowded There are several pools which could prove challenging to anyone middle age or older as there are no safety handrails. Also none in the bathroom by the jacuzzi tub The one bedroom deluxe oceanfront suite was lovely, upscale and well equipped. Full kitchen if you did not want to eat all meals at the restaurant. Comfortable king bed The one downside- too many birds in the open air dining area at breakfast and lunch (they do not seem to come in the evening) I was pooped on during one meal and they chairs and cushions are stained with bird poop, needing to be wiped down often. They annoyingly wait for you to make a trip to the buffet and will then move in on anything left on your table, including your water and other beverages We discussed this with management and suggested that they set up a bird feeding station away from the dining area They assured us that they would be taking steps to deal with this problem Overall a lovely place to visit

"Nice hotel excellent views"
Had ten superb days and nights at Sugar Ridge. Room was comfortable and practical - excellent shower, lovely terrace with comfortable furniture and cooling fan. Plunge pool unfortunately was very cold and therefore barely used. Air con was effective but incredibly noisy, fortunately the ceiling fan cooled the room adequately. We were staying b&b - breakfast was good with waiter service plus cerial / toast / pastries etc from a mini buffet. Ate twice in The Sugar Club - Caribbean night (don't recommend) and once from the normal menu which we both enjoyed. Ate twice at Carmichaels, both meals were superb costing around US$ 250 with a mid range bottle of wine. Pools / pool areas clean with comfortable beds. The gardens are very well maintained and well worth a stroll around after breakfast to burn off a few calories. Liked the fact the hotel is within walking distance of several restaurants - many Antiguan hotels seem to be pretty remote. We were a little concerned after reading comments from previous guests that we would be scaling a mountain to reach the room - fortunately this was not the case and never posed a problem plus of course a shuttle bus is available if required, we used it twice, once on arrival and then again on departure.
