Due to their size and longevity (a Baobab is at least a few thousand years), baobabs are important landmarks in Senegal’s dry savanna plain. This event is called as the ‘reposoir des oiseaux’ or ‘putting the birds to sleep’ Within 20 minutes the entire mangrove was filled with birds... one of the very rare places that’s untouched by swarms of tourists.
