Oceanview Inn At The Arch

"Everything was in the room was clean and smelled fresh. The view was beautiful but you could not see the ocean for the trees. We checked in on a Monday after a busy weekend so the staff was tired and not very welcoming...kind of robotic. They were a little more friendly the next day. The shades made it nice and dark in the room and the AC unit worked like a champ. The location was perfect."

The Seaview Cottages

"Wife and I booked cottage #10 (King Suite). The room was very small, smaller than expected. That was not a problem, since it was only the two of us. The place was nice and clean. The room has a laminated sheet that alerts you to the thin walls and how easily sound travels between shared-wall cottages. Any footsteps in the cottage above ours (9 and 10 share a wall, another cottage is above both) were registered by us and somewhat loud. The only bad part of the experience, but not bad enough to go below 4 stars, was the fact that the hot water heater is inside behind a very rickety accordion door. That made the cottage very warm and humid. The towels were somewhat damp because of this. On the bright side, this could be fixed easily at night by opening the cottage door and patio door for a cross breeze to cool down the room. There is no A/C. We stayed in the middle of summer, but it wasn’t bad, and I’m from Alaska. It’s not close to anything of interest besides the beach itself, so bonus if you’re here for just that! It’s a very short drive to town. Had a great experience overall for two nights!"

Hotel Elliott

"This is a quirky hotel, centrally located in Astoria, which is a sweet kind of frontier feeling town right on the mouth of the Columbia River. The staff is friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself could use some updating. If you like boxy, chain hotels that are cookie cutter from town to town, this is not the hotel for you. Hotel Elliot has a certain charm, and we enjoyed our three night stay. There is a lovely roof deck with glass barriers to cut down on the wind, and it's a great place to watch the sunset, or check out the town's landmarks like the Column up on the hill, the Columbia River Maritime Museum, and the barges in the river. The room was a bit tight, the bed was very comfortable, and we had what we needed other than a refrigerator to keep food and wine cool. We really appreciated the location, which is a quick walk to many good restaurants, breweries, pubs, and bars."
