Shell Campground & Cabins

2.5 star property

"Beautiful cabin and area! We stayed here for just one night (wish it had been longer). We chose it for its convenience between Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone. It became a little less convenient when we were forced to change route due to wildfire on other side of mountain. It became very stressful when we had to go over mountain while clock-watching trying to get there before their 7PM check-in deadline, with no cell service to be able to call them. But, as it was, they did provide for us being a...

Beautiful lakeside retreat - Perfect for the adventuresome family -pet friendly

10.0 out of 10, Exceptional, (51)
"Very peaceful and relaxing place to get away. Jerry was very kind and welcoming and leaves a nice personal touch for his guests (I won’t ruin it for future guests). It is definitely in a very remote area. If you like the outdoors and are looking to disconnect, this is the best place. The Lake House has everything you could need, way more than any other places we’ve stayed in the past. Linda, the caretaker of the ranch, was absolutely amazing and we very much enjoyed meeting her. Iconic Log Cabin At The Yellowstone River Ranch

9.8 out of 10, Exceptional, (192)
"This cabin is exactly as described. It is secluded, quiet, charming and rustic. My wife and I had a wonderful time. We saw many mule deer and white tail deer in the area. We also saw a herd of elk, just past the cabin at the entrance to Shoshone National Forrest. Do not miss Clark’s Fork Canyon, it is beautiful and we saw big horn sheep and antelope there. As mentioned in other reviews, there were low beams in the cabin but I am 6’2 and I didn’t have any problems at all. One of the best!"
