Our experience in Athens was wonderful. The host was extremely helpful whenever we needed her. The location was perfect. The views from her home are just gorgeous! Sit and watch the sunset over the lake...who could ask for more. Our dog loved swimming at the dog beach! We visited Olana, ate in fabulous restaurants (which the host recommended), hiked, toured the Hudson on boat, and even went to Woodstock! This was a very welcomed vacation! Thank you, Donna!

We spent the week after Christmas here with our dog. Great location on the lake and close to Athens and Catskills. Owner was responsive and helpful. Lakeside neighborhood is good for walking. The property is comfortable and as pictured.

Very cozy and comfortable for a pet-friendly stay.
Nice cozy, small cabin for a getaway with beautiful views on the lake. The place had a really nice vibe and it was so nice to have our 2 4-legged kiddos with us. The neighborhood was not so much our cup of tea but would probably be fine with most. There was just alot of development and places were closer together than preferred. The owner was very flexible and responsive.

Enjoyed my stay. House was perfect for one person and easy to get to. Very comfortable and a great view of the lake but no lake access from the house. But easy access at several points just down the street. Very laid back. I love the area - Catskills, Athens, Hudson. Lots to do and see.

Cozy Stay with a Beautiful View
We had a lovely time relaxing in this cozy "treehouse" which had a gorgeous sunset view of the lake. The house is in a private lakeside community. We enjoyed our nighttime walks around the community with our dogs to the dog beach. Host was helpful and accessible.

We loved the view of the lake, waking up to a gorgeous view from the bedroom. Fireplace opens into both the living room and bedroom. Very cozy cabin - beautiful wood floors. Donna was very responsive and helpful.

We had a great time staying at Donna's cabin. The cabin was very charming. The lake was beautiful, we enjoyed hanging out on the deck. Lots of great trails nearby and we also enjoyed exploring Athens and nearby towns with our dog.

Don't vacation during covid
This review will likely not reflect your experience, but I wanted to share mine because it has more to do with the owner than the property itself. I booked this vacation back in February, prior to the pandemic. When things went crazy, I decided to keep the reservation because it's the only vacation I would get for the year, and it was sorely needed. My primary deciding factor when booking this particular property was the lake. Prior to booking, I reached out to Donna to ask about access, because it looked like swimming directly from the property wasn't an option, She confirmed "Yes, the boat can be launched from the path in the photo but it is not a good spot for swimming. The pool and sandy beach are a couple of minutes by car." So I booked, Covid happened, and I was in touch with Donna a few more times to confirm that she was still renting and I was keeping the reservation. A day after arriving, I discovered that there was no access to the main pool or the beach because there was construction happening that had been going on for a few months (confirmed by the HOA manager). At no point did Donna reach out to me to let me know that anything had changed. When I sent an (admittedly) heated message about the lack of lake access and a request to have the rest of the trip refunded, I was told that I was being unreasonable and her explanation for why I wasn't informed of the closure was that "We had no discussion about the lake beach so there was no need to discuss construction issues with you". She also used the pandemic as a vague excuse. We did in fact discuss the access, see previous quotation. She basically told me I could swim from the boat launch (which she said was not an option previously) or the dog beach (a tiny strip of sand that would obviously be urine soaked), or drive to the complete opposite side of the lake to the smaller pool (about the size of a standard one family pool) where we would need to wait our turn and potentially oust actual residents. None of these options were particularly appealing for obvious reasons. She had the nerve to say in a subsequent email that she "went to a lot of trouble" on my behalf and berated me a second time for being "unreasonable" and leaving two days into the vacation. So, renter beware. If you don't care about the lake and you don't mind cobwebs and clutter everywhere, this might actually be a great place to rent.

We really enjoyed out stay. The home is so cozy and relaxing. We watched the squirrel antics & admired the fall leaf color through the large windows. Had coffee on the deck, warmed our toes by the fire. Bed is very comfortable. Basket of pamphlets gives you ideas where to visit. Tastefully decorated. Home is centrally located to lots of fun things to do. We took a Hudson River cruise on the Rip Van Winkle in Kingston. The Kaaterskill Falls is a must do hike folks. Views were amazing!! We checked out some local towns. Don't skip a meal at The New York Restaurant, Main Street, Catskill. Is a little pricey but I had the best meal there that I have had in a long time. Yum Donna is so helpful and kind. Book it folks, you will enjoy the special place she created😊

We recently spent 3 nights at Donna's house. The cottage is so cute and warm - it's exactly what you see in the pictures. Donna was extremely responsive in all questions we had...she made our stay so easy. Our doggie had the best time! We went to the little beach by the lake and she could swim and play around - so nice to be out of NYC and find such a great little paradise. The deck overlooking the lake is perfect - such a nice scenery. We'll definitely come back! Thanks Donna!

Charming, quaint, cozy stay
Donna’s home provided a lovely home base for our family’s late summer exploration of the Hudson Valley. Our morning coffee on the deck, overlooking the lake from high in the trees, was a highlight and a real treat. Sleepy Hollow lake is great for families and we took advantage of the pool and public beach, even meeting new friends. Donna was very communicative and responsive. All in all, a charming experience.
