Fire alarm went off in the middle of the night and the owner was incompetent - there was no apparent cause but for around an hour it kept tripping again so eventually I tried (without success) to sleep in my car. The hotel was dirty, no-one was available to help/serve breakfast etc, items such as milk in the kitchen fridge were out of date. It is a very old unmodernised property.”

“Hoops Inn is a lovely Grade II building with history. It has a lovely garden, although on a steep incline so may not be suitable for anyone with walking difficulty. The staff are very welcoming & helpful. Lovely freshly cooked breakfasts with good quality produce.”

Instead there was a DAB radio which was playing a soothing Classic FM when we entered our rather classy country pub hotel. Everything was to a very high standard in our room. We were even welcomed with a short, signed note on quality card wishing us personally, a warm and……
