“We arrived to no one around and after walking around the property finally saw an envelope with our name on it and our key. Our room smelt moldy and damp. The carpet was dirty and the walls were peeling. The beds were very uncomfortable. It was shocking to see after such a high rating. The yard was unkempt and there was a general air of neglect about the whole place. ”

Beautiful location, quiet, lovely gardens, very comfortable room and first class service throughout the hotel, from welcome at reception to saying goodbye. Restaurant (Artisan Room) was very good, the staff here so very helpful and lovely with it. Food is fresh, local and well prepared and served. Could not fault it. Good wine list too. It's a beautiful old house and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.”
