![The fortress Bukelon is located near the village of Matochina, the municipality of Svilengrad. The fortress is situated on a high hill, in the north end of the village and is encircling the whole ridge with its length of 150 meters and width of 60 meters. With its 18 meters height, the fortress Bukelon is an impressive and majestic view among the surrounding landscape. The citadel itself has the form of a cross, and the shorter part of the cross is oriented towards east, and the longer - towards west. 

In the year of 387 there was a great battle which took place here between the armies of the Emperor Valens and the Goths that ended with the complete rout of the Roman army and the death of the emperor.

Here in 1205, the army of tsar Kaloyan defeated the army of the knight - crusaders, and captured their leader - Emperor Baldwin of Flanders. The legend says that the emperor had spent his first night as a prisoner into this fortress. In 5 dagen had ik geen zonnebank die vanaf 6 uur 's ochtends met handdoeken omging het zwembad en op het strand.Het hotel is 4 sterren, maar ik zou het slechts 2 en een halve ster geven. Helemaal teleurgesteld, de eerste en laatste vakantie in Bulgarije"

"Worse place to stay ever. Since the moment you walk in it stinks like a public bathroom. The lobby is outdated. Please do Not trust the enhanced pictures shown there! It looks like if you are back in the 60s. The beds are super uncomfortable at a level like if you are sleeping on a piece of brick with a sheet on it. The AC is totally useless. "The hotel is in the very heart of Sofia, close to the main Station and many landmarks. It was really easy to move around and a safe area too. Vitosha Bulevard is just 2 minutes down the road, full of restaurants and shops. The room was excellent, spacious and the bed comfortable. The shower was heaven and they use an outstanding brand for their gel, shampoo, body lotion, etc. Shout out to the girls in the bar at night, very patient and handling diffiuclt customer with so much grace. Thanks to all the staff that made me feel so good on my birthday and treated me like a princess. Thanks all, I will be back for sure!"

"Perfect. A very nice, clean and spacious room. The staff were very friendly. We were allowed to check-in very early as that’s when we arrived in Sofia and were given a takeaway breakfast the morning after as we left early. The hotel is a couple of minutes walk from the bus & train station. It is walking distance to the city centre or use the tram directly outside, which is very cheap with the €2 unlimited daily journeys cap. "

"The hotel is alright, however their key-cards constantly de-magnitise. The receptionist tried to make it my problem. Aparently it is my fault that I have phone in one pocket and airpods in another pocket. Their super-duper fragile keys can’t be next to radio emmiters. They should go back to metallic keys, if they are unable to buy cards that don’t lose their charge when next to bluetooth earphones. "
