You’ll discover great fishing, whale-watching opportunities and sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean at this emblematic landmark of Daytona Beach.

Daytona Beach Pier (aka Main Street Pier) has been one of the most recognizable and photographed sights of Daytona Beach since its inauguration in the early 1900s. Originally a simple palm log structure, Daytona Beach Pier was rebuilt after being destroyed by fire in 1920. Today it’s a focal point of the city and a place to spot wildlife, enjoy panoramic vistas and dine on mouthwatering seafood.

The pier stretches for about 1,000 feet (305 meters) into the Atlantic Ocean from the southern end of Daytona Beach Boardwalk. During Daytona’s beach racing years the pier’s supporting pilings were often removed to allow drivers to pass underneath. Look down and imagine vintage cars and motorcycles racing on the hard-packed sand at breakneck speeds.

Views from the pier reach over a wide expanse of deep blue water and along a far-reaching stretch of Florida coastline. Watch as waves crash onto the shoreline and turn your gaze to the sky to see pelicans flying overhead. From December to March it’s possible to spot Northern right whales on their winter migration. Grab your binoculars and scour the ocean for these majestic mammals in addition to dolphins and manatees.

The elegant Victorian-style building located at the halfway point of the pier once housed a casino and was a venue for civic events and lavish galas. Today it is home to a seafood restaurant. Sit on the rooftop terrace and try delectable clam chowder, king crab and lobster bisque.

Anglers cast lines from the eastern end of the pier in the hope of catching flounder, pompano and trout, among other species. No permit or license is required to fish here, so bring a rod and try your luck.

Daytona Beach Pier is a free attraction and is open daily. Parking is available for a fee adjacent to Breakers Oceanfront Park. More seaside entertainment is on offer at the amusement arcades, fairground rides, shops and restaurants of Daytona Beach Boardwalk.
