“Despite the wet and windy conditions we really enjoyed our stay and managed to get around to our favourite spots. Steve & Julie provided a lovely starter pack to see us over the first 24 hours. Cottage is superb, with all the amenities you would expect at home. Would recommend it as a base to tour the countryside.”

“Room was ok but breakfast was a big let down in quality and . Breakfast started at 7am and was cooked to order leaving little time to eat before leaving for my flight. Didn’t have fresh eggs , just fake scrambled egg (yuk). ”

“Nice room with good Ringtons tea drinks and biscuits. TV very small. Lovely meal and beers in the bar. Big portions.. Nice shop. Lovely surroundings and access to Hadriens wall. Breakfast had a good selection. Friendly staff. ”

“Superb location and venue. Delightful pub with top cask ale and the food was sublime. Breakfast was fabulous. Staff were highly friendly and attentive. The only negative was the electric shower which was very temperamental and low pressure. A real treat though overall.”

“Excellent Pet-friendly hotel. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms were perfectly clean and acceptable, the little fridge for fresh milk was a bonus as those plastic cartons are awful. The food was absolutely wonderful on the evening meal, lovely and fresh and pleasantly presented. Breakfast, there was so much choice other than Full English which was a pleasant surprise. All in all everything was wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed……

“Fantastic location. Ideal for what we needed but also really rural-feeling and peaceful. We found it quiet and charming. We enjoyed wandering in amongst the old orchard and down through the copse, across the scrubland that forms part of the floodplain of the Tyne. It was good to know there are badgers around although we weren’t lucky enough to see anyway. The dawn chorus was impressive. Very pleasant indeed. Definitely will book again if we’re back in the area. ”

“This tiny Inn is definitely worth a visit! The new owners were very friendly and welcoming and the room was comfortable and very clean. The history of the building meant that the bar is tiny, but very welcoming - we spent a great evening drinking and chatting with locals. No food available on the first night, but the owners were happy to recommend and book somewhere for us to eat. Their kitchen was open the second night and the quality was excellent. Steak was very well cooked and the homemade……
