    Welcome to funky Leucadia, where old North County character meets new energy. the Leucadia Place is a little bit of both—a charming, updated 1927 two-bedroom, two-bath home perched on the hillside with views toward the Pacific.

    There’s no A/C, but coastal breezes keep things fresh and comfortable, and the west-facing location delivers some pretty amazing sunsets.

    Now with an Autel EV charging station!

    The Place

    the Leucadia Place is best suited for a couple, a couple with one or two children, or a couple traveling with a friend. Please read the full description and sleeping arrangements to make sure the home is a good fit for your stay.

    The primary bedroom has a comfortable, firm queen bed and en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom has a twin trundle bed with a second firm twin underneath. A second full bathroom is located off the hallway.

    The home is fully furnished and includes a well-stocked kitchen, full laundry, and hypoallergenic body wash, shampoo, and conditioner.

    Two outdoor decks are perfect for afternoon lunches, evening drinks, and watching the sun disappear over the Pacific.

    Pet Friendly — Really Pet Friendly

    One of the things that makes the Leucadia Place a little different is that dogs and cats are welcome, with no size restrictions.

    Please pay the applicable pet fee and let me know in advance so I can prepare for your furry friend(s). Accidents happen—even the occasional chewed or damaged item. If something does happen, just be upfront about it and be prepared to cover reasonable repair or replacement costs.

    The property sits on a larger lot with a somewhat rural feel, so skunks, opossums, and raccoons occasionally make appearances. Please keep that in mind when letting pets outside, particularly at night.

    Location

    the Leucadia Place is west of Interstate 5 and east of Coast Highway, tucked into the hillside overlooking the ocean. It's a great home base for a weekend getaway, longer coastal stay, or seasonal Del Mar track rental.

    The Del Mar Racetrack is only about 8 miles south—typically 10–15 minutes depending on traffic. If you're interested in the home for the 2026 track season, please reach out. Some dates may appear blocked specifically to preserve availability for longer track-season stays.

    You'll also be within easy reach of Torrey Pines Golf Course and Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.

    A Home Instead of a Hotel

    Why spend your stay dealing with hotel parking fees, resort fees, elevators, and crowded common areas when you can have your own little home?

    There are no parking fees, no resort fees, and no waiting in lines—plus plenty of room for two cars behind the property's electric gate.

    The owner lives locally and is available if something comes up during your stay. Weekly or bi-weekly cleaning can also be arranged upon request.

    Don't Be Afraid to Ask About Dates

    If part of your trip appears unavailable, please ask. I travel frequently and intentionally leave some time between guests to make sure the house is properly prepared for each arrival. As a result, dates that appear blocked on the calendar may sometimes be available.

What a great place and an amazing host.Super clean and well presented, a perfect place to relax.Being allowed to have the fruit straight from the trees around the house was a great plus.A few things to know to have the best experience:Family beach is a 45 minute walk, so plan to go to Moonlight Beach by car and get there early.Also be aware the property doesn’t have Aircon, so it can get hot inside in the summer during the day. At night it cools off well, so plan to be out during the day.

We absolutely loved our stay here! Our host Jason was incredibly on top of things--from communicating well with us, to stocking the kitchen, to providing a thoughtful and well curated stay. The beds were very comfortable and the place had all the things we needed. The location was great as well, private but walkable to some good places to eat. The property itself is beautiful with lots of fruit trees. We will definitely be back to stay here when we are in town, and we would recommend this place to anyone else looking for a great little place in Leucadia!

My wife and I stayed here with our baby and a friend, we had an excellent time. It's very comfortable and it's a great location, walking distance to everything you want in the area.

We had such a great stay here. The property is absolutely beautiful and serene!! Ocean views, lush tropical landscaping, and citrus fruit trees all throughout. Honestly, it felt like staying in a private botanical garden… literally 25 species of plants & trees to enjoy! Birds chirping, all around good vibes! Everything was also extremely clean and well cared for, which made the stay even more comfortable. The house has so much charm with updated interiors that felt really cozy and homey. The bedding and pillows were incredibly comfortable too, I even emailed the host asking for the specifics to bring into my own home. We slept great the entire stay. A literal dream for 3 nights. The location was perfect and super walkable while still feeling peaceful, safe, and private. The property is also very dog friendly, which was nice to see even though we didn’t bring one ourselves. The host was so nice & accommodating, communication was great for check in and they left fresh flowers and a cute chalkboard welcome message for us when we arrived. You can tell a lot of care goes into this place. Would absolutely stay again, in fact I’m looking to book again before the year ends. We love San Diego, & specifically this quaint area.

I've never walked into a cleaner short term rental! Jason was a warm and well organized host. The neighborhood is quiet and a short walk from Leucadia's drag of the coast highway--coffee shops, wood fired pizza, record stores, beach access. It's a timeless place, perfect for our weekend with two discerning teens.

We had such a wonderful stay! From the moment we arrived, our host made us feel completely welcome — even our dogs were spoiled with special treats! The backyard was perfect for them to run and play, and we loved picking fresh citrus to make orange juice in the mornings (the oranges were amazing!). The home was spotless, cozy, and had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. Thank you for being such a kind and thoughtful host — we would love to come back!

This was one of my favorite VRBO stays yet, out of so many! Jason was a wonderful host, and made us feel welcome, and informed. He even provided dog bowls and a dog bed for our dog! The Leucadia place is one of a kind, right in the midst of a darling coastal town, yet so secluded feeling. The kitchen was perfectly outfitted for all the cooking we wanted to do, including grilling outside. The bed was very comfortable, with luxurious linens. My grandsons and dog loved having a place to run around and play, and we loved the ocean views and the fresh citrus for breakfast. We will definitely be back!

This spot is excellent! Jason was super attentive and helpful when needed. The location is perfect: walking distance to food and fun. The house was super clean, with enough comfort and supplies to last. Our dog had the zoomies around the property and passed out on the porch. We cannot wait to come back.

The property was wonderful. Once you drove through the gates, you enjoyed total peace and privacy. The house was comfortable and exceptionally clean. We didn’t need anything while we were there. Jason was a great communicator and answered all our needs. Our dog, Winnie, loved exploring the yard with the fruit trees and pathways.

This little beach house was the cutest and best property to stay at that we could’ve asked for! It made our first time in Encinitas all the better, especially for Beacon’s beach access and proximity to the cute town. I loved how welcoming the host was and the place was clean, secure, and dog friendly. Even had incredible fruit trees! There was nothing more we needed as far as amenities go. Thank you for such a positive experience that we’ll never forget!

Check in was so easy, Jason was an absolute dream. So so helpful and responsive! Waking up and seeing the ocean from the front door healed my soul. Loved the private parking behind the gate, and feeling like we had the whole place to ourself. Even picked a fresh grapefruit from the tree for breakfast! Would come back again and again!

Girl's Getaway

Clean and lovely home on peaceful property. Separate deck with ocean views was a perfect spot for toasting to friendship during sunset and yoga in the morning. Leucadia was a perfect home base for our weekend SoCal coastal exploration.

Another great stay at this special Property. Lots of outdoor space for our pups and very comfortable and spacious inside. Jason is very easy to work with and even offered to shop for us before our arrival. We come to the area several times a year and this property will always be our first choice.

Beautiful property, fantastic location

We really enjoyed our stay here and hope to come back again! The hosts were super responsive and friendly. The house had everything we needed. Best part of the rental is definitely the property - fully fenced and great for dogs. Partial view of the ocean as well which was a nice bonus.
