My stay was really positive except for one key factor that significantly impacted my experience. The day I was to check-in I received an email notifying me that “due to unforeseen circumstances” my reservation has been cancelled. My 6 night reservation was that I booked months ago because I knew they would run out of rooms due to the conference being held on-site (the reason for my stay). I intentionally chose the Sheraton for the convenience. Receiving this news (through email especially) while I was at the airport on my way to my destination was incredibly stressful. I called the Sheraton and tried to get more information because I did not understand what happened to my reservation. The individual I spoke to informed me that just because I make a reservation does not mean they save a room for me. I don’t know if this is standard practice, but I was shocked to learn that reserving a room does not ensure you have a room. The individual let me know that I will be staying at The Holiday Inn which she stated was about 15 minutes away. I immediately began to think of the transportation costs I will now have going back and forth from the Holiday Inn. I asked to speak to the staff member that emailed me and was sent to a voicemail where I left a message in tears and my call was not returned.
