Definitely a very fancy hotel, however the building is old, so the rooms are maybe a bit worn, but in fine condition. Huge place full of art and many activities, and we enjoyed our stay here.
This hotel was very beautiful. When we arrived we were so happy until we got to the room the bed was not comfortable and even though everything looked clean there was a bad smell coming from the bathroom. This made our stay unpleasant. Thankfully it was just one night.

Very large facility … the rooms and bathrooms were tiny
The check-in process was very easy. The elevator going up was kind of scary because you didn't know if it was moving or not, but the rooms were spacious and comfortable. We were upgraded to a jr suite which included a separate bedroom and living room area. The hotel staff was friendly and the food at the Spring Bar was good.
My flight was delayed so I checked in at 3am. The room had NO sound insulation. I was woken at 7am with doors slamming and people chatting in the hallway. Was really shattered. The room facilities were super basic in comparison to the facade. Very old air con that blew only cold air. Basic old shower. Really tired looking bed. But it was cheap and clean.
Very nice and quiet area. Room and hotel was very clean! Very friendly and helpful staff. The only downside is that it wasn’t walkable to the center and not too nice of a neighborhood to walk around in. But that is not an issue if you come to relax at the hotel.
Very happy to have stayed here for 3 days.
Price/ quality is really good!
Only thing for us that could be improved was the breakfast. Not the most extensive selection/ best quality of products. Bed is on the hard side.
A large property that has been maintained for 70 years, hosting large groups. Excellent food service for buffet breakfast and nice dinners in the restaurant. Extensive displays of modern artwork. Rooms are well equipped: Wifi worked fine, sufficient electrical outlets. Note, economy rooms on the 4th floor have skylights but no windows. One drawback, the shower in my room had mold on the walls and ceiling.
We stayed one night at the completion of our 3-weeks in Italy. The guest service was wonderful as our room wasn’t ready when we arrived so they were willing to hold our luggage until it was. Fresh water was available to enjoy at the entryway while we waited in the colorful lobby. The outdoor area has lots of open-air seating to enjoy. We loved the restaurant for a 5-course dinner. The decor is modern and dons the walls as you walk to the elevators and congress rooms. Music plays in the covered outdoor areas, and those had cushiony seating and low tables for socializing. The rooms were cozy and comfortable for the nights stay. It is an absolutely stunning property full of charm and whimsy.

Not what I expected
Beautiful hotel from the outside, poor location with lots of dirty areas surrounding hotel. Staff not very friendly upon check in and not very helpful or forthcoming. Poor plumbing in our room. Toilet would not flush unless you flushed twice and shower would not drain. Only toiletries offered were a body wash that was used as your hand soap as well as shampoo. I expected a beautiful hotel corporation would be far much better and offer more for their guests. I will give a positive feedback on their breakfast that is offered in the dining hall. More offerings than your typical continental breakfast.
Not a great area of town. It seems as though they have special "Expedia" rooms. Our room was on the fourth floor, but the elevator only goes to the third floor. There was no one to take our bags up. The women at the front desk were very helpful, but out experience with a couple of the men was with their snooty attitude. The place was very noisy all night long with people moving furniture near our room into the early morning hours. The bed was like a piece of wood with some padding on it, not a real mattress. However, the food was outstanding! We dined in the dining room one night and it was fabulous, beautifully presented and amazing taste.
The hotel's structure is gorgeous, the front desk staff are polite and helpful, and the room was clean, meeting our standards.
HOWEVER, we were EXTREMELY disappointed with the room service. We specifically ordered two pizzas, despite the OUTRAGEOUSLY HIGH price (18 Euros per pizza), because the barman assured us the chef was from Napoli and made amazing pizzas.
What we received was unacceptable. Each pizza was smaller than the plate it was served on, AWFUL in quality, and as hard as a frisbee. It was clearly not freshly baked and most likely not even handmade. It took 12 hours to digest, and hands down, it was the worst pizza of my life. (For context, I am Italian, and I know exactly how pizza should taste and look.)
We paid 58 Euros for two terrible pizzas and two small Nastro Azzurro beers. If that’s not daylight robbery, then what is?

I had a 4th floor room - the lift stops at the 3rd floor and you use the stairs.
The shower in my economy room was so small that I (5ft9 medium frame) could barely turn round in it. It didn't drain quickly so you've got about 5 minutes for a shower before the water fills the tray.
1 bottle of complimentary water for a 4 night stay.
On the last day I had to use the ground floor toilets - there was a conference on - the all the toilets were overwhelmed. No locks on the toilet doors so people trying to get in. limescale build up in the cisterns and not very clean. Really poor.
Taxis arrived about 3 times out of 4 when booked so leave plenty of time if you're going to the airport. Also about 20 euros to the Vatican and over 30 into the tourist area.
The grounds were beautiful and the staff very helpful at the desk and the restaurant - one of the meals was exceptionally good. Overall not a 4 star experience.
