I always choose Hotels du Vin above any others, for location, ambience, personnel, comfort, welcome, taste in furnishings, and consistent,amazing cuisine. Should I ever inherit, win, a substantial amount of money I wouldn't desert Hotel du Vin for anything so-called upmarket. I love boutique, loathe big fancy alternatives. York is lovely, Newcastle the favourite....until we visited Glasgow. I'm now torn between these 2. Not so impressed with Edinburgh but that was wholly down to the building; otherwise Edinburgh is fine. If I need an uplift, Hotel du Vin - a meal or stay - ticks all my boxes. Really grateful we have these residences.
