Definitely worth the day trip from Cape Coast. Taken November 2010.

View from Elmina Castle. My visit there was one of the best and saddest moments of the trip to Ghana.
You can't really say how powerful it is going to be until you find yourself there.

Elmina Castle was built by the Portuguese in Cape Coast, Ghana in the 1400s to ship africans during the slave trade. Many left their homeland through this castle and sadly, never returned. It now stands as a historical museum open to the public. #culture #ghana #travel
