What mattered most on this trip was the location (near many walkable points of interest, my arrival/departure location and multiple transit lines), the privacy and access to a kitchen. That last was more than adequate for my needs: a full-sized refrigerator to store breakfast items, beverages and restaurant leftovers, a toaster and microwave and, to my delight, an electric teakettle. On my arrival and first night I had to ask for clothes hangers — the room had none — and occupants down the hall were noisy. But it WAS New Orleans on a holiday weekend, and I carry earplugs when I travel.
This property is one of several in the Central Business District converted from its original corporate office/headquarters use to hotel/residential. In general, the accommodation in a sturdy mid-century building worked for me; I’m not big on room service or a giant screen TV.
