Modern Canyon Retreat #329

A truly modern urban oasis in the mountains of Mammoth Lakes, California.

Located in Chamonix Condominiums and completely remodeled in 2014, this one-bedroom condo is walking distance to Canyon Lodge and the perfect base for your Mammoth Lakes summer and winter stays.

Enjoy designer style mixed with urbane comfort. The stylish open kitchen boasts brand new appliances, open shelving, and a locally made custom countertop. It is also fully stocked with everything you might need. The luxurious, contemporary bath has also been remodeled with a glassed-in shower with rainfall showerhead and a one-of-a-kind floating vanity.

In the living room, you will find a 42" LED flat-screen TV, a Blu-ray DVD player, stereo/iPod dock, and a wood-burning stove. Complimentary wood can be found next to the stove and on our deck that overlooks Canyon Blvd. There is also a ski/board rack to store your equipment and hooks throughout the property to hang your gloves, goggles, jackets, etc.

Ideal for two people, the condo is non-smoking and has one master bedroom with a king bed.

LOCATION:

A four-minute walk to the Canyon Lodge ski lifts, the condo is also across the street from Mammoth's free shuttle stops. This shuttle will chauffeur you all around town! You will never have to drive once you are here. The famous Austria Hof is a 2-minute stroll up the road for Apres ski fun and food.

See the wonders that Mammoth Lakes has to offer - Yosemite National Park, Devils Postpile, Rainbow Falls, Mono Lake, Bristlecone Pine Forest, and Bodi State Historic Park (just to name a few). Don't forget, Mammoth is not far from The Biggest Little City in the World, Reno, Nevada.

(A word about "ski-in/out": The unwritten implication here is "when there is sufficient snow." In lean seasons, you may have to hoof it a bit. Please check local conditions before booking).

Stellar Ski Retreat!
We loved staying in this condo, walking distance to the slopes and the bus stop is right across the street for those of us needing a lift tot he lifts! The building has inside hallway so no cold blasts as you enter. One flight of stairs, snow always cleared and parked very near the entrance. Inside the place is newly renovated in a clean modern vibe, stainless shelving and beautiful wood counters. Couch had plenty of room to lounge, bed was roomy and comfy with cushion top. Towels were thick and absorbent, shower newly done with rain shower head. Heaters were efficient once it got up to temp it was able to keep warm. Very nice place to stay, thank you!

Needs some TLC
Would not stay here again. Not well taken care of at all. They only gave us 4 towels for 4 ppl staying for a week… we arrived, sat on the couch and were covered in dog hair. We were offered to send photos and have someone come clean again but declined given we wanted our private space. My biggest issue of all is there is no deadbolt on the door. There are multiple entry points to the building. When I asked I was told it was for the automatic lock. You can have keyless entry with deadbolts or even put a child safety lock at the inside. This is very unsafe esp staying with 2 small children. The location was really our reason for booking this unit. On check out day before 9am the door code reset. Thankfully we were not out to breakfast and didn’t get locked out with our belongings still inside. Pros: -walking distance to canyon lodge -king size bed -extra queen lifted blow up if needed. Although didn’t use it so unsure of the comfort -plenty of dishes -basic spices -tons of fire wood, although it’s piled on the balcony so you can’t go outside -lots of pots, pans etc Cons: -electric stovetop is crooked, no pan sits on it evenly -back right “burner” doesn’t work -fridge leaks and temp freezes -bathroom has a barn door that has a good inch gap, lack of privacy. Magnet to the door doesn’t stay and slides open -no drawers or real closet space. Can’t unpack -huge mirror in master not attached to wall -kitchen table is not level -wiring in master questionable

Mammoth condo
There were several issues. Bed was horrible. Had a wood platform around it always hitting legs on. Freezer defrosts and runs onto floor. Broiler didn’t work. Front lt. Burner on stove would shut off by itself before done.Barn door in bath not level. It wouldn't stay shut. Oversize coffee table, hard to move around it. Many lights did not work. Kitchen was well stocked and shower was nice.

Everything was fine except the bed
We did not get many good night's sleep due to the mattress. We cannot find a comfortable area to lie on and my shoulders get pinched nerves after the night. Both of us hurt ourselves on the wood edges of the bed. This is a bed frame that does not fit in a small room, we ran into the extended wood frame with our legs multiple times. We like the place but we won't use this again due to the bed.

Its a good stay
Its a good property. Quiet. Has all amenties you need. Couldn't ask for more. Remember to print you parking pass! We forgot and it was quite an ordeal trying to find a print shop to print from email. Wish there was a backup parking permit stored somewhere in the condo. We didnt get an email confirmation and it was difficult to get ahold of someone on a Sunday so we can have our access code. We did email, and phone call with no one picking up. We were ultimately able to get ahold of someone and didnt have to sleep in our car lol.

Not great. Place was dirty and small. Location was great. End of the stay charged an extra 60$ for towels that were not even that dirty. Would not stay there again

It's better than a Motel
Plenty of supplies, but lacked some essentials. The info book from management was helpful, but the TV remote D-pad didn't work, making features of the TV unusable. The book mentioned a Sony DVD player, but there was a Panasonic player without a remote instead, rendering it useless. The bath barn door wasn't hung properly and wouldn't stay open. When closed, it left a large gap, compromising privacy. Not good for two middle-aged guys with possible stomach issues. The toilet seat was left very loose. Noisy fridge all night, likely needing replacement due to an off-balance or failing compressor. The space served its purpose for the weekend for my friend and me to ride dirtbikes through the E.S. but left me desiring more for the price.
