Location is only compliment for this property
This house is not quaint, it's rundown. Arrived to a dark & musty house (pictures online have been lightened?) Seems to have had minimal effort to update or improve the home which is a shame because the location is spectacular. Everything is either old or cheap. House wasn't prepared for our arrival - all the curtains were closed and the house was musty smelling. There are visible mousetraps, broken curtains, and several windows are fogged up with condensation. Windows upstairs don't open (how is this not a safety issue?) Had to use the space heaters provided in the living room for warmth, the two bedroom tv's weren't hooked up or working, old cheap coffee pot, older furniture, etc. I think the rusted out flag pole in the front yard sums up this house. (and there was no outdoor furniture as stated in the listing) I will say that the house is clean, and again, the location and view are amazing. I wouldn't have such scrutiny if the price was lower, but, the quality should be much higher for the rates they are asking... Just very disappointing and I left after one night. Pam T.

Excellent location
Perfect location but house needs updating and renters staying in colder months should definitely be made aware of the less than effective heating set up. Rooms had various portable space heaters which did not heat the house well and some of which kept tripping breakers so bedrooms got very cold at night. Very cold. No response from property management about that issue. But again the house is in an amazing location and is well outfitted.

I felt cat fished. Renter beware
I booked this house to attend my sons wedding in Seaside. The inside of the house looks nothing like the pictures. The pictures are obviously altered. It is drab and dingy. Not a warm feeling in the house. It is scary.I felt catfished. I understand the house is old but it is so cringy. Old dirty furniture in the living room. I was so embarrassed when my family started showing up. The Internet and TV didn’t work the 3 days we were there. They sent out a maintenance person who checked everything and then said he was told the Internet was out all over Seaside. I don’t believe that was the issue. The biggest issue is the whole place smells like mold. Very strong and overwhelming. You can’t open most of the windows especially upstairs where most of the bedrooms are. It was horrible and lack of fresh air made it hard to sleep. The front steps do not have a rail which made it very difficult and dangerous for my 87 year old mother who uses a walker. I was so disappointed .

Seaside beach house
Overall it was a great experience to get away from all the jam packed city life and just kick back and relax on the beach. No sunshine came through at all but the weather was not bad to just sit outside or open all the windows and let the fresh sea air enter the house. Everyone was very happy overall.

Big, needs working windows
The house was spacious, a lot of beds, most of beds and bathrooms are upstairs. Half of the windows are broken and don’t open/close, they need to be fixed since fresh air is a must in this house. It was a super close walk to the beach! Probably not a house you want to bring little children to.

Old, but GREAT location
When we first went into the house, I was very concerned. It smelled musty and old.... I hate that smell! Once we aired things out, it was much better. NONE of the upstairs windows open!!! Very, very warm in the afternoon and evening. Luckily, we found 1 fan to use upstairs. It helped, but just needs some ventilation. Location is wonderful and it is quiet.

Needs work
Not terribly clean - literally had to dust furniture and sweep floor upon arrival. Things are dated and microwave has broken part, wall paper in bathroom is peeling. Feces outside of upstairs windows should have been removed. Overall we liked a lot especially layout of living room but the house needs some work.

Nice location but house not up to par
We chose this home because of its location and number of bedrooms and bathrooms. The location is excellent. The size is comfortable. The house is older with history but badly needs some restoration. Windows can't be opened, stair railing loose and dangerous, and appliances not up to grade. You can't touch dishes when they have been in the microwave. Does that mean they are leaded? Plenty of dishes and utensils. Wifi questionable. The house needs a thorough cleaning. Simple dusting in living areas would help. Furniture is worn out.

Not Worth the Money... Black Mold!
The view of the ocean and location are AMAZING but definitely not worth the price of the house. When we arrived nothing had been dusted, you could swipe your finger across a table and see the line mark easily. The house does not have a central HVAC system (which is fine) but you cannot open any of the windows in the house. They are either broken or have a sign that says (Do Not Open). This means that the house has NO airflow! I happened to stay in an upstairs room that has an attached bathroom... the bathroom has Black Mold visible on the ceiling and walls. I only knew to look for this because I am allergic and woke up with asthmatic symptoms. I instantly knew that Black Mold must be close and sure enough you could see it in MANY places on the bathroom ceiling and walls. Overall the house and property are MUCH more run down than what is pictured. The house was also not stocked with any cleaning supplies. (You are asked to run a load of dishes... but we were left with no detergent to run the dish washer, I have rented many houses and usually this is stocked) If I would have known this we would have NEVER booked this property.

Easy beach getaway for and extended family with young children
I wanted to plan a few post-Covid days at the beach with my two daughters from other states and their 4 children aged 3 to 11. The ability to walk directly onto the dunes and beach without crossing vehicle traffic as well as a quiet neighborhood and a homey feel to the place, and the ability to spread out in separate interior spaces on at least 2 floors were important. We all agreed this place worked well and would book again.

House needs work. Some windows would not shut (very cool at times). One stove burner doesn't work. Microwave is dangerous - doesn't work properly. Bathrooms need attention. One toliet seat broken. Shower curtain in one upstairs bath doesn't cover tub - always water on floor. Dining chairs broken. Our family enjoyed our time there, but the house needs some TLC.

Our stay at The Tides
The location is great. Although the house is rustic and charming it definitely could use some updates and repairs to make it more user friendly. Big beach-side lawn is great for gathering and watching the “parade” on the prom but there are no useable lawn chairs. What is there is broke and should be disposed of. Bring your own camping chairs. The back outdoor stair railings are pretty rickety and need to be replaced or made more secure. The back door doorknob was laying on the inside of the house. We repaired but the screws provided are too short so it won’t last long. The right hand burner on the stove does not work and needs to be replaced. Most of the windows in the house are inoperable. I realize the replacement of all the windows would be a huge cost but every room should have windows that open for the comfort of guests staying there. Particularly in the bedrooms. Thankful that fans were available. It would be a benefit to multi generational guests if at least one toilet was taller than standard size. Sweeping off the beach-side entry steps and shaking out the entryway carpet should be on the list for cleaning between guests. The variety of gathering places in the house is fabulous. Plenty of individual ares for chatting, reading or playing board games. We could seat all of us for meals, but could use some additional silverware. Not enough place settings for the number of people the house can accommodate. I did not see the mold that a previous tenant mentioned but property management should definitely check this out and remediate if necessary. This is a must. With these minor fixes, the house and the visit would go from ok to wonderful in our opinion. I would have expected that these items be addressed prior to high season when there is little time for repairs during turnover. I have tried to be accurate and fair in this review. Nothing we experienced was a deal breaker. If you are looking for an excellent location and wish to feel like you are visiting Grandma’s beach house, pick The Tides!

Location was amazing with direct path/access to the beach and boardwalk to Seaside downtown (5 min walk). It's a spacious home with a big living room area to relax but views of beach can only be seen from the two bedroom upstairs. We were disappointed with the lack of maintenance for the home -- it definitely needed some TLC, such as devices that didn't work, replacing light blubs, grill was out of propane, peeling of dirty wall paper, dirty blankets and broken toilet paper hangers. Although the house is very old and charming, some minor maintenance can improve the stay. We were mostly disappointed to see a mouse and could hear them scratch behind the walls. There are plenty of kitchen and bathroom supplies.

Very expensive for the age and condition of the home. We paid for last minute convenience and so that we could bring our dog. At the same time, I was surprised to be charged the full amount given current travel limitations. Most windows did not open which was very disappointing.

Whole house smells like pee!
On our way to Seaside we got a call from property management saying they needed to delay our check-in by 2 hours as the people before us had left the house in shambles. We got another call about half an hour after our original check-in time to let us know their cleanup was faster than they thought and the house was ready for us. The house is cute but dated and is in a great location. The listing says it has a washer and dryer but the dryer is rigged with a small piece of wood holding the back part open where the switch is to turn it on. One of my kids attempted to start it after we had washed a load of clothes in the washer and got an electric shock from the exposed wire inside. So there really is only a washer, not a functioning dryer. The worst thing though is that the house is entirely carpeted and the whole place smells very strongly of dog urine (at least we hope dog urine). The living area and all the bedrooms have an unbearable smell so it is not pleasant to be there. I submitted a complaint while we were at the property almost a week and a half ago and have not heard back. So despite their initial helpfulness, property management also gets one star. I would not recommend this property.
