So I drove through the night, to get here before sunrise. Unfortunately the trail is closed until the visitor center is open, which was after sunrise. I was able to race down the trail and see why some 120-200 Navajo called this home at one point. It is perfectly placed to get shade through morning and a spring is nearby.

These trees were so contrasted with the red and gold cliffs and ground all around.

As I walked back up the path saw this dead tree. Even though I was only a mile or so away from the actual ruins, I could not imagine walking to and from that every day. It is thousands of feet in elevation gain/loss getting to the bottom of this canyon.

The atmosphere was amazingly beautiful! The rooms are small, bathroom smelled (not going to lie) moldy! Given the history of the hotel. Your kind to expect that, I guess. Maybe give the room some TLC!
