Rooms were not well maintained. Bathroom lock was missing, walls had plaster not well painted. Toilet was not working, sink was not working properly.

We stayed here years ago and I loved it so I was very excited to see a somewhat reasonable rate for a two night stay during the week recently. We were so very disappointed. This is not the inn that it was previously. The grounds are still beautiful, the lobby that we spent minimal time in, beautiful, but our room was poorly maintained, needed a deep clean and had paper thin walls. It was a connecting room so that may have been the reason but if so, don’t book those rooms to 2 different parties. We could almost overhear the couple’s conversation next door while sitting on our bed - very creepy and not what we expect with an inn that charges fairly high rates - a Motel 6, maybe! The ice machine was out of order and when I asked if there was another one, I was told no and not offered any ice from the restaurant. It was more of a sorry, you are out of luck response. The cloth headboard had a layer of dust on it that certainly didn’t accumulate overnight and the walls had spots of chipped paint. When we mentioned it to the person at the front desk, she said that she would bring these things up at the management meeting and that if we stayed again, they would maybe comp us a bottle of wine. No thanks, we’re going to stay downtown next time we are visiting our son and at least get a convenient walkable location for the money spent. A clean well maintained room would just be an added bonus.

End of season but didn’t seem like the water view balcony area, especially the cushions had been cleaned all season. Never saw a staff person, just an online agent that sent the code for the room. They put a fresh coat of paint on the room and put in some Walmart furniture to try to sell this as a 4 star motel. The cobwebs and general uncleaned feeling made this a one time only ever stay here for us. The smaller windows that face the road near the bed and bathroom need to have curtains because the light outside is too bright. The tv remotes cross control in the rooms. I could hear the frustration level between rooms but wasn’t sure who was controlling our tv as we tried to turn on YouTube and they kept trying to watch Disney- but in the end - we all just gave up. Oh and you can hear a pin drop from upstairs and the muffled moans of your neighbors’ in their bed against your head. Only bonus- hand wand in the shower.
