This hotel is very dated. Staff were lovely, breakfast was amazing. Our first room on 13th Floor was great. The second one on the 12th floor had a musty mould smell and old curtains that didn't block out the light making the room red - made for a much less comfortable environment. Also there was a plumbing/drainage issue and the bathroom flooded both times the shower was used. The two pillows provided are TERRIBLE. Also, hotel was fully booked and whilst we were grateful to have parking, it was a very long and steep walk from the car park p to the hotel. Really needs a refresh, but good value for money and excellent service. You definitely need a car too, it is very hilly and there is no food or convenience store within walking distance.

Pros: rooms are great (we stayed in the condo) - huge apartment, washing machine, small equipped kitchen. No complaints about the room at all!
Lunch options: decent takeaway at the deli! Reasonably priced and tasty!
Cons:
- Pools: there are only 2 at the property. Pools are great, but honestly quite small for the number of guests at the resort. There were a lot of screaming and splashing children, which is fine, just would have been great to have an adults only pool option.
- Beach: the beach is shocking to get to. I thought other reviews seemed dramatic, but it is over a busy road, the path is super unclear and the ‘beach house’ was almost impossible to find. Honestly not sure how people headed across with small children!
- Restaurant: the BBQ restaurant in the hotel was pretty bad. Food was poor quality, mountains of dirty dishes were everywhere. Nowhere near good enough at a 5-star hotel and given the price point!

Lovely hotel with extremely comfortable beds and a huge bathroom. Staff was very friendly and helpful! Definitely left quite a good impression.
The hotel area is huge with a wide variety of restaurants and bars within the hotel. Very accessible to the downtown district of Sapporo.
The only negative would be the view from the room. Many of the rooms I presume would be facing the inner yard, i.e. the windows of all the rooms next to, below and above your own room.

We had stayed at 3 other hotels in Japan and by far the customer service was fantastic!! We were welcomed right away as we got out of our taxi and knowing it was a super hot day, we were given ice cold water bottles right away. There were chairs to relax in which was so nice. Interesting when we stayed at the Intercontinental in Tokyo there were so chairs to sit and signs everywhere stating not sit on the ledges. We were walked up to our room and when we asked for extra pillows/blanket the young lady brought them in less then a minute which usually sometimes takes hours to get.
Big shoutout to the best concierge staff ever! One of the ladies helped schedule a hair cut appt for my daughter and myself which was super last minute. She really wanted to help us. And we got amazing cut/color within 5 min walking distance to hotel. The next mornign when asking again for help with getting to the airport on train the concierge helped outline everything on the subways and color coded it.
Only downside is they don’t have a pool. Breakfast buffet was really good! Chef even came out to great everyone and to get feedback.

There were many dining options. We used in room service and the food was ok. It was a bit cold. The bed was amazing. They offered bed guards for children too.

The Hotel New Otani is beautiful and upscale. The gardens are amazing! Be sure to set aside an hour to enjoy the plants and tranquil water. The staff provide the highest level of service. Most speak English. It’s not near the tourist sites, but there’s a metro station nearby and taxis. We stayed at a downtown hotel on our way out of Japan, and I didn’t prefer one location over the other.
The beds are VERY hard. Very. It’s normal for Japan, but if you want “American soft” beds, choose a Western brand. The rooms are spacious with nice bathroom facilities. They are generous with toiletries, and the soaps smell great. Try the face cream and lotion.
There are many options for food on the lower levels. We liked Tully’s Coffee for breakfast. The main restaurant offers breakfast as well. I really enjoyed the pizza restaurant, which is tucked around a corner. They have pizza, noodle bowls, and gorgeous desserts. It’s their best kept secret! The Currency Exchange is located in the post office. It’s only open until 5:00 pm. There are exchange machines all over Tokyo—we didn’t have any trouble finding one. We felt safe getting money and carrying cash.
