Gulf Coast Pet-friendly Vacations

We had a wonderful stay at the Drury Inn & Suites near Universal Studios! The staff was friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. A special shout-out to Samuel, who checked us in. He was absolutely fabulous! He gave us all the information we needed about the resort and made sure we knew about the Kickback Hour, which ended up being one of our favorite perks. 🍽️ The Kickback Hour was FREE and the food that evening included pulled pork BBQ sliders, baked potatoes with toppings, nachos and cheese with toppings, and hot dogs. They also had fresh popcorn available daily and Coke products. And the breakfast was far from your average continental breakfast! Every morning, Ms. Vickie greeted us with a smile and was so friendly and welcoming. The breakfast included scrambled eggs (with bacon and cheese available), biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, a variety of breakfast breads, toast and bagels, warm oatmeal with toppings, several choices of cereal, cranberry, apple and orange juice, and milk. There was truly something for everyone! 🛏️ We stayed in a king room, which was spacious and very comfortable. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was surprisingly roomy. The shower was wonderful, and had the resort’s own bath products available to use should you forget yours. Comfort, clean, friendly, and welcoming resort with so many extras included. Right off the interstate was very convenient for getting around.

Let me start by saying that we have stayed at that location plenty of times and have not had an issue one. This time we stayed in a handicap room (not sure why) and it was terrible. The smell of the room as soon as we walked in about knocked us down. We immediately walked down to the lobby and asked for another room which they then told us they were booked and would spray something and they did. It made the floor so sticky, but yes, helped with the smell. The shower didn't drain... the grossest feeling in the world to stand in dirty shower water. The bed was so uncomfortable that our backs hurt the entire time we were there, still does. Walking the halls, we noticed the other rooms didn't have the gross carpet and the bed looked more thicker than ours. the staff was amazing, but that room has clearly been neglected. Also, the lighting in that bathroom was nonexistent.

My family was here for 4 nights. For a trip to Universal, they only offer the shuttle twice a day, once in the morning at 8:30 and twice at night. We ended up ubering. There are 2 pools outside. One pool was closed the entire time with no reason why. The vending machines were always empty, we were looking for water, diet coke, and coke. Iasked on our first night if it could be refilled. It was never filled over the entire time we were there. They have a refrigerator stocked at the front desk area, but it's very expensive. The bathtub drain did not drain, so you were standing in water, paint was chipping around the lining of the shower and the nozzle was filled with mold. I asked for additional bedding and pillows on several occasions, and they told me that the hotel was filled, and they didn't have any more to give out that, they had a limited number. The TV randomly just turned on, and off without us, even using the controller. There are so many other better options closer to universal i suggest to use one of those instead of this one. I totally regret spending my money.

Great hotel with a great location. Friendly staff. If I only had one complaint it was the noise of traffic on Monroe but that should be expected at that location.
