Pros: cleanliness
Location: Close to Grand Central Station and Bryant Park
Great location, very clean and nice size rooms. We were across from the elevators and thought it would be noisy but it was very quiet. Highly recommend this hotel

Marriott Eastside disappointing

Posted Nov 6, 2014
Pros: location
Cons: customer service
This was our fourth stay here. Decent location, room was designed too tight and staff need customer service basic training and standards. Dresser was two-three steps outside of bathroom door in the clear path of exit-ouch. No writing utensils not even a scratch pad or standard complimentary Bic pen. Staff were good at check in and check out. Service staff were inconsistent in customer service basics: doorman very helpful, some house staff couldn't be bothered. Wake up call never came I missed my early morning departure for NYC Marathon. In short, disappointing will be considering other options next year.

Everything Pleasing apart from Noisy Air Condition

Posted Nov 1, 2014
Pros: Brilliant location and friendly relaxed atmosphere. Loved the comfortable bed.
Cons: The air conditioning really does need updating to run less noisily. It was like having an aircraft take off each time it clunked into action.
Location: Easy access to all the major attractions and most can be reached on foot provided sensible footwear is worn.
A warm welcoming hotel, superbly located with a very comfortable room and exceptionally comfortable bed. Unfortuately the air conditioning was so noisy that it undermined all the other comforts. Such a shame really. Good in-room facilities, although the rate for in-room wi-fi was expensive given that some UK hotels now provide this free of charge. The fact that the lobby wifi is free doesn't really compensate for the inconvenience. On the plus-side all staff are friendly and attentive and happy to help where possible.

Comfortable hotel but missing a few necessities !

Posted Oct 30, 2014
Pros: The staff, cleanliness, location
Cons: As above! Somewhere to put suitcases! More coat hangers! And also more space in the cupboard/wardrobe to hang clothes!
Location: Great location able to walk to Madison Avenue etc... Easily.
Loved the location.. Very expensive bar! Lack of facilities in the room, eg somewhere to stand suitcases! We had to leave them on the floor! We had a double room with a minute cupboard to hang our clothes! There were five coat hangers ! The safe was also in this cupboard therefore if you had any thing long it would drape on the safe! $20 dollars for wifi per day in the room! Very clean room but outside the window is a generator and also it has very noisy air conditioning! Staff very very nice but always hanging around for a tip!

Didn't get what we paid for

Posted Oct 30, 2014
Pros: Convenient location.
Cons: Better treatment of pre-paid guests.
We paid in advance for a deluxe room, but the room we were assigned smelled of cigarette smoke. We were moved to an inferior room, even though we had paid for a deluxe room. The new room was so small there was no room for a nightstand on one side of the bed. Our window looked out on the roof above the hotel's front awning and there was a wet towel on this rooftop during our entire stay.

Good Evening, We sincerely apologize to hear that you were unsatisfied with your visit to the Marriott East Side recently. We do not allow smoking in our hotel at all, yet sometimes guest do break that policy and unfortunately, it did negatively affect you. Moving you was most likely the only option we had to make sure you were comfortable. Hopefully, the next time you visit we can make up for the inconveniences you were caused by moving rooms so abruptly and change your view of the East Side to a positive one! Thank you for your feedback.

Perfect for ladies weekend in the city

Posted Oct 27, 2014
Pros: Location and extremely attentive staff. Super friendly employees.
Cons: Letting guests know on the website about the traffic/driving restrictions trying to turn on to Lexington from the surrounding streets from 10-6.
Location: Close to shopping, theater district, great restaurants on the east side as well as towards Times Square. Very easy to get around.
Three 40-something women stayed at this property for a weekend in the city. We could not have been more pleased. The location was perfect (not in the heart of touristy areas), the staff very friendly and accommodating in every possible way, and the room was pretty spacious for NYC. Three of us shared one room and did not feel overwhelmed. Its an easy walk from the hotel to Times Square/Theater District, shopping areas, and Central Park and close to a major subway station. The only reason I could not give the room comfort 5 stars was because we had a little bit of a tricky time controlling the temperature in the room. When it got warm, we turned on the air (at 73 degrees) but it blew out really cold air and the bed next to the unit was on the receiving end of the cold, cold air at full blast. Other than that, it was a nice room with a fridge and safe, and very comfy beds. One tip I wish I would have known in trying to drive to the hotel were the traffic rules that don't allow left or right turns onto Lexington between the hours of 10AM-6PM off the many streets I attempted to use. It was quite frustrating just trying to get to the hotel. Had to find a major "street" (I think it was 57th) that finally allowed me to turn onto Lexington. Drivers, just something to note. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

good thing about it is the locat

Posted Oct 17, 2014
Pros: The location and the cleaning lady
Cons: The bathtub and the customer service
The good thing about this hotel was the location: close to grand central, rockefeller and 5th The bad: booked 2 double beds. checked in... surprise: 1 double bed. went back down. not the nicest receptionist who said even if we booked 2 double beds it was not guaranteed. which does not make sense when we paid for 2 double beds. Good thing this was resolved. The bathtub was horrible to take a shower in. From day 1, it was clogged and water would reach a bit lower than the calf level everyday.

Extremely noisy hotel but good location

Posted Oct 9, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Too long a list. Almost everything.
Location: Great location- close to central park and museum mile.
We paid premium dollars via the expedia site only to be given what I would describe as a very small, noisy room backing the lift well. We had arrived at 11.45pm after a long flight but by 1pm we had to ask for another room as the noise was too much. We were shifted to another room which was even worse but could not be bothered to shift again as we were too tired. The hotel is wonderfully located in the heart of midtown but really needs an upgrade. The atmosphere is that of an old, tired pub.
