This was dissapointing - NO ROOM SERVICE

Posted Apr 2, 2014
Pros: The location is nice.
Cons: It is amazing to me that a Mid-town Manhattan Hotel has no room service. The restraurant downstairs has a very limited menu. No lunch service.
Location: The location is good. You are in mid-town Manhattan.
This was a dissapointing experience. First, there was a slow check in line that never seemed to move. Secondly, there were a collection of about five or six glasses strewn about the hallway of my room on the tenth floor. When I went to order room service - I was informed that there was no room service available. This was surprising for a Manhattan Hotel. Instead hotel guests could order from a very LIMITED menu from the bar-restaurant downstairs and pick their meals up and carry them back to the room. To add insult to injury, they still charged a mandatory 15% gratuity for carry-out orders. While the room was modestly comfortable, the bathroom had sticky soap scum on part of the counter top - but the rest of room was fairly clean and comfortable. You can do better in Manhattan than this hotel.

City break

I recently visited new york with friends and stayed at the marriott east side. The location of the hotel was central to all attractions of new york which was great. We had a superior king room which included a king bed and a double sofa bed and was spacious and clean. I had telephoned the hotel prior to our visit having read some dissapointing reviews about the rooms. I asked for a nice room with a nice view as it was a special birthday trip and we were allocated a corner room on the 21st floor at the back of the hotel with views of the crysler building. The room was very quiet at night - unusual in NYC, which was great for sleeping. The staff were curteous and helpful. I would definitely stay there again .

New York hotel

Pros: Within walking distance to Times Square, with two young children. Excellent service from staff at the door.
Stayed here for one night, very pleasant stay. Very positive experience, especially loved the service from the concierge (not sure what his title is), especially at 4:30 am.

They took great care of us in every way - let us check in early, helped with holding our luggage, gave us great recommendations. All in all very pleasant experience, would stay here again and recommend it highly.

Great location

The room was great-bigger than most rooms i've ever had in NYC. However, the bathroom was tiny, had terrible light and amenities were poor. The hotel does not have room service, yet they have a bar and a restaurant. So if that's the case, then have a bell hop deliver my coffee and bagel, no?

Could be great

Pros: Location, clean, good management
Cons: hotel needs an upgrade.
I'm a very frequent traveller to NY and have tried many hotels. The Marriaot's in excellent location in the heart of Mid-town. Unfortunately, despite the very nice entry, the place is pretty dated and needs an internal facelift. My room was a good size (bigger than avg for NY), faced the back and was very quiet. However, the furncace in the room is from centuries past and made loud grinding noises whenever it went on/off, making it very difficult to sleep. I asked it to be fixed and nothing was done about it. This hotel could be so much more but unfortunately, was a dissappointment. Given other options, I wouldn't stay here again.
