Close to Grand Central Station, easy walk. Small room but we were't in it much so it didn't matter. Hotel bar was nice & friendly as well as the check in staff.

Nice hotel great location

Great hotel staff and location, downside is the bedrooms are noisy due to the proximity to Lexington ave but then again this is Manhattan there's always sirens and traffic. Excellent transport links and handy shops and resturants close by especially black wells on East 47th

Noisy, Noisy, Noisy!

Posted Mar 9, 2015
Pros: Nice bellmen
Cons: Noise level
Location: Restaurants and shopping all within walking distance.
We are Elite Expedia members and travel at least 7 nights every month. Check in was ok. When I asked if they had any larger rooms available and they did I was told I couldn't upgrade all I could do was forfeit my room and money and rebook at full price! The rooms have paper thin walls. We could hear noises from other rooms on the same floor as well as upstairs. I personally don't enjoy listening to other guests using the bathroom! The street noise was just as bad as the hotel noise. We heard every car, police siren, horn and people yelling outside our room. We were on the 7th floor and it was as if we had our windows open. Needless to say we didn't get much sleep. The room was clean as well as the rest of the hotel. The bellmen were all great and very helpful. Because of the noise, we can not recommend this hotel, especially with so many other choices in the NYC area.

excellent hotel in good position to get to places

Posted Feb 25, 2015
Pros: The friendly, helpful staff. it was warm and very comfortable. Always plenty of hot water.
Cons: I'm not sure I'm the best person to ask as I was there for just a short break.
Location: Bang in the middle of Midtown near underground stations and bus stops. Near the museum areas. Not too far from Central Park and the Lincoln Centre.
I had been before in a group but this was different. I went on my own, a woman over 70, and was treated right royally. I was on a room only basis but was able to find very good breakfasts within easy walking distance and I'm talking about a time when New York was experiencing one of its coldest winters ever. It is very easy to get a taxi, the underground is about 5 minutes away and I walked to several things I wanted to visit - MOMA, the Rockafeller(?) Centre and the shops on 5th Avenue. They are helpful in suggesting places and booking places for you. Warm, clean, quiet, comfortable - perhaps not for the young and not particularly cheap. but for me, an elderly (I hate that word!) it was ideal and I may well go again.

BIRTHDAY TREAT

Posted Feb 14, 2015
Pros: The central location to tourist attractions
Cons: FREE WIFI in the hotel
Location: Very central to Grand Central, Rockefeller Center, 5th Ave, Central Park, Times Square and Starbucks......loads and loads and loads of Starbucks LOL
First time visit to New York for my wives birthday. Hotel is very central to all the major attractions, 10/15 min walk to things like Rockefeller Center, Central Park, 5th Ave, Times Square etc. and subway stations to further away. Hotel was obviously a grand building at one time but could do with a bit of make over. Just little things like single glazing windows (no good when your are only 6 floors above the noise of street level), the décor in general looks tired. Tea and coffee facilities are provided but if you want more than one cup with milk then your out of luck. Every night we were there we had to go down to reception and ask for milk and tea bags. For a major hotel chain in Manhattan the one big thing that the hotel is missing is FREE WI FI !!!!!. Virtually everywhere from a small deli to Starbucks to other tourist attractions you get WIFI but not in the Marriott !!! Apart from that the beds are very comfortable, the staff are very attentive and happy to help.

Really good location and a positive experience.

Posted Feb 10, 2015
Pros: Location and friendly, helpful staff.
Cons: It was a nice hotel without being an ostentacious hotel.
Location: Fifth Avenue is only 2 blocks for shoppers; Broadway is very walkable as were the Met and Guggenheim. Grand Central station was closeby too.
Although it said online we couldn't book in before 4pm we were allowed to book in immediately. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and warm. I stayed with my adult daughter and we each had our own double bed which made the stay very comfortable. The concierge service was friendly and efficient. The bar was a nice place to have a cocktail before heading out to eat/go to the theatre... so all in all a good experience.
