Fun hotel at a good pricePosted Oct 13, 2013
Pros: The hotel was full of cheerful hospitality. All the staff were friendly and helpful. I was surprised how nice the room was, given the price.
Cons: The internet (wi-fi) is free in the room, but incredibly slow to the point of not being useful.
Location: The hotel is a short walk from the train station, but about 20-30 minutes from central Salzburg by foot.
This is a fun hotel--each floor has a different Salzburg-related theme. I stayed on the Sound of Music floor, which meant my room had a huge mural of scenes from the movie. The room was quite affordable, yet enormous for the price. The staff at the front desk were helpful and offered advice about what to see in Salzburg. Breakfast was excellent.

A great hotel.Posted Sep 27, 2013
Pros: Nice room and facilities. An older hotel but everything was updated and nicely done. Great spacious room.
Cons: Directions on website could be much better. As they now stand, totally useless (confusing street pattern). Should have used our GPS.
Location: Neighborhood is nondescript. I was raining one night and we ate in the hotel restaurant. Food and service were good but not much else nearby.
Everything about the hotel, from breakfast to the helpful staff, was first rate. But, finding it was difficult. We had to stop and ask several times and nobody really knew the location (and we speak perfect German). It was also a half hour walk to the city center though walking along the river was nice. Cab from inner city was about 8 Euros.

close to train stationPosted Sep 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
This is the second time we've stayed here because it's very close to the train station. Wonderful place, great service and very friendly. The surroundings are great, but the street next to the hotel was being redone.

Great staffPosted Sep 2, 2013
Pros: Staff and breakfast.
Location: Salzburg Cathedral, Hohensalzburg Fortress, Mozartplatz, St. Peter's Cemetery, and don't miss Hellbrunn Castle!
The hotel is a bit old and tired, but the staff was wonderful and the breakfast was the best we had on our vacation! It's about a 20 to 25 minute walk along the river to the old part of town, and then another 5 minute walk into town, and we are really fast walkers! The walk was fine during the day, but long and dark at night! We loved the city! We went on a City Walk, hiked up to the Fortress, and rented bikes from "Top Bikes" by the Staatsbrucke bridge and rode to Hellbrunn Castle! It's a beautiful bike ride and don't miss the fountain tour!!!

Location and comfortPosted Aug 17, 2013
Pros: Proximity to the train station and bus terminal, room spaciousness, Blu-ray DVD player with large selection of free movies
Cons: The bathroom facilities, provision of complimentary coffee services.
Location: Proximity to the train station and bus terminal, and the rental car company from where we were renting a car, all within walking distance.
We picked this hotel given its proximity to the train station, given that we would be arriving from Vienna by train, and due to the reasonable room rates. Our first impression of the hotel on entering the lobby was somewhat unfavorable, given that it had an atmosphere of an old hotel. However, as we got more familiar with the facilities, we discovered that the guest room floors had probably been renovated, and had a more modern feel to them. Our room was spacious and comfortable, which was important given that we were a party of two adults and two children (10 and 12 years old). The one area where we had a real problem was the bathroom facilities -- the glass partition installed to prevent water splashing on to the floor did not form a good seal with the bathtub surface, due to which we constantly got pooling of water on the floor which we had to mop up. Also, the bathroom door did not latch properly. We have recommended to the hotel staff that they attend to these issues. Another area for improvement would be to provide complimentary in-room coffee service, which is something that is now par for the course in most hotels. The single-cup espresso machine provided in the room requires payment of Euro 1.50. An attractive feature was the availability of a Blu-ray DVD player in the room, and a large selection of free Blu-Ray and regular DVDs at the reception desk for guests to use.

Great hotel, not so great locationPosted Aug 12, 2013 on Hotels.com
The rooms were excellent. Breakfast was fantastic. Staff was good, but not great. But the biggest problem was the location. With no metro everything was a 15-30 minute walk. That is ok except the first 1/2 mile was through strip clubs, gambling shops and generally "not nice" area. I would never let my wife walk it alone! Lots of guys just hanging around.

Convenient for the rail stationPosted Aug 9, 2013
Pros: Clean Rooms
Cons: Automatic taps in the bathroom
Location: Near Train Station
Location is fine for the station and as others have said, its easy enough to either walk or get a bus to the old town. Hotel is clean and the rooms are OK. Stayed in one of the themed rooms. Had a few problems with the aircon (we were there in some of the hottest days of the year) which took a while to get sorted. The hotel has a green approach with automatic taps in the bathroom and a shower that seems to be designed to minimise water use. It works but sometimes its just a little bit irritating in use.
