Great Location!Posted Aug 8, 2010 on Hotels.com
We loved the location ... the only downside was the narrowness of the rooms... My friend liked to stretch each morning ( we each had separate twin rooms) and he could not do a full stretch!! Small rooms. I did not mind it at all... Very nice staff and the balcony bar/ restaurant is worth the entire cost! Fabulous views over Salzburg

Xmas and New Year in Hotel Stein, SalzburgPosted Jan 20, 2010
This is a quality hotel. Service and personnel are professional and friendly. The roof top terrace serves a good breakfast and has a good selection of drinks and food (snacks) as part of their cafe setup. The hotel is well situated being part of the city centre, the downside being that you also hear many of the street noises: garbage and delivery trucks, people returning from clubs and bars. The hotel had an exclusive New Year's party on the roof top terrace. It was pricey, but you did get a wonderful view of the fireworks at midnight.

Right on the markPosted Jun 25, 2009 on Hotels.com
Parking is about 400m up the street, which worked out fine for us. Great location, great rooms, helpful English-speaking staff. Had trouble with wireless internet connection.

Great location, but has some flaws.Posted Dec 11, 2008 on Hotels.com
I chose the Hotel Stein in Salzberg for it's location, on the river, just across from the old town. And, the location is superb. A two minute walk across the bridge and you are in the middle of the old town, and don't have to fight the crowds and difficulty getting to and from the hotel by taxi, etc. Our room was a suite fronting on the river with outstanding views of the old town and fortress. The hotel does have some issues, including small elevators, a pretty lackluster lobby, and spotty breakfast service. But, the location is such a plus, I'm still satisfied with the stay.

2nd Visit and still impressedPosted Dec 6, 2008
The Hotel Stein has the best location in Salzburg with the only roof-terrace bar/cafe if you want to be close not only to the many sights to visit but also to the great selection of bars and restaurants this hotel is the one for you!

Good Hotel, Good LocationPosted Nov 7, 2008
The hotel is good in general. The location is perfect on the river and close to many cafes and good resturants. The staff at the reception were very helpful. However, the room (double) was quite different from the one displayed in the website. Also there is no fridge in the room.

Not impressedPosted Sep 25, 2008
If you are looking for a hotel with a good location the Hotel Stein will work - if you are looking for a good nights sleep after touring cross this one off of your list. The noise from the street, traffic and young adults will ensure a sleepness nite! The beds were comfortable however a mysterious rash appeared similar to that of bed bug bites! The front desk was unable to assist with questions regarding landmarks, delivered our wake-up call 1hr. late which resulted in missing a tour that was paid in full and non-refundable amounting to $120.00! More importantly it was a tour that had been filled and one that was on our list of things to see in Salzburg! The hotel manager had not much to offer other than a free cab ride!
Great hotel, great location, fabulous room with a viewPosted Sep 5, 2008
On the banks of the river, with an amazing view of the Old Town. Junior Suite room was spacious and clean. No aircon but a fan provided. Quite noisy with windows open. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was more than adequate, rolls, cheeses/meats, cereals, fruit/yoghu, and some hot food all provided. We had a baby with us - hotel had stairs leading down from the lift and to the outside - so had to carry pram a fair deal. Had to ask each morning for a high chair, which was provided. Roof Terrace bar always busy, but great view means this isn't a surprise!

Fantastic LocationPosted Aug 20, 2008
My husband and I were very thrilled with the location of the hotel. All the main sights are within walking distance. The staff was very friendly/helpful, the rooftop bar was very picturesque, and the rooms were very comfortable. We can't wait to go back!

What a disappointmentPosted Aug 6, 2008
We were so amazed to see that an insider's select and a four star hotel could be almost unbearable to spend a night in. We spent two. We just returned from a two night stay in July and it was 90 degrees. There was no air conditioning and a pitiful fan, requiring the windows to be open all night. Unfortunately, it faces the busiest and noisiest corner in Salzburg. There were motor scooters and motorcycles gunning their engines at the stop light. There were also drunken revelers yelling from the bridge till 4:00 a.m. The people at the front desk tried to brush all of this off with the fact that they are a city hotel. The room itself was old and dark. The bathroom to be fair was very nice, updated and clean. The buffet breakfast was fine. This hotel might be okay in the winter, when you can leave your windows shut, but in the summer, it's a disaster.
