Terrible Check-In Experience

The hotel staff wanted full payment before check-in despite us having already pre-paid Hotels.com. Wasted a precious one hour at reception arguing with staff before we were given a room reluctantly (without additional payment). Reception could not even make international phone calls and kept getting through to a China number while trying to contact Hotels.com (Singapore number) by phone. We do not blame the staff but the management, and the lack of proper communication and arrangement between Hotels.com and the hotel. Apart from that, the hotel is literally right next to Suzhou South Long-Distance Bus Station, which makes it convenient for travelling into and out of Suzhou. Suzhou old city with the main attractions is but a local bus ride away. Room was clean enough though beds were hard. Wired internet in the room is free (cable is provided), but slow.
