very friendly service

my wife and I were extremely impressed with the friendly and prompt attention that we got from the moment we pulled up. there was nothing extremely special about the room, but the staff was great and the location is unbeatable.

Parking

Hotel parking although was expensive, as normal took a very, very long time to get the car back. It took 45 minutes one day to retreive the car. They should tell you when you drop the car off to call ahaed by at least 30 to 45 minutes to have it there. It comes from a garage one block away.

Only drawback - don’t get a room on the milleum mile - too noisy - street auto faces road to Emergency Room of Northwestern Hospital

Wrigley Field a must see - Navy Pier - Museums a must see too many to list take the subway and bus - Trolley tour excellent to give you an idea where everything is .

Hotel is in a good spot right off of Michigan Ave. Room was great, great size. Concierge was very helpful.

Omni Restaurant

The hotel was spacious and very attractive. The only suggestions I have are concern the hotel bar/restaurant. My salad was overloaded with "blueberry vinagrette," and the staff seemed too standoffish. Don’t get me wrong they were totally willing to grant my every wish but there was just a chilliness about them. I guess it accompanies the vibe you can get from being directly downtown. But turn the corner and there is Rush Street with all of its life and rythm so the chill wore off real fast.

Rush Street is awesome for shopping (Anthropology has a great storefront here as does Barnes and Nobles for people watching). Gibson’s Steakhouse has a fabulous bar to hang for a while and listen to some piano tunes.

Nice but pricey

My wife and I stayed at the Omni for our 1st anniversary. The location is excellent for dining and shopping, and the River North art district is only a few blocks west of the hotel. We arrived around 11am and were able to check in and go to our room overlooking Michigan Ave. I had joined the Omni loyalty program before we arrived and we really enjoyed the morning coffee/tea delivered to the room, as well as the local paper. We spent a fair amount of time in the hotel bar (think swanky lounge) but drinks and appetizers are expensive. However, everything was delicious and convenient. Also, parking is expensive if you bring a car. We would definitely stay again.

Be sure to catch a Bears/Cubs/Sox game at Mother Hubbards a few blocks South of the hotel.

The Good and the Bad

The Omni Hotel provided a clean and friendly environment in which to stay. However, if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful location for your stay, you may want to consider elsewhere. Being right on Michigan Avenue, you will hear noises from the streets below all night. And the lights shine through the drapes, illuminating the rooms until dawn. In addition, our first room was on the same floor as the pool and workout facility. The overwhelming smell of chlorine forced me to immediately call the front desk and ask for a change in floors. And lastly, upon check-out I was charged an additional day for valet parking. When asked to correct the mistake, I was asked if I had two cars at the hotel. I felt as though I should have never even been asked this question. Instead, an apology should have been made and the charge reversed. Overall, the hotel is clean and guest service was very helpful. The rooms were small, for being considered a "suite", yet still fairly comfortable. So, to sum up, I’ve stayed in much nicer hotels, and I have stayed in worse hotels.

Best Place I’ve stayed yet!

I have been to Chicago many times over the past few years and this is my favorite hotel so far. The resturant 676 at the hotel is amazing and I ate there every day. The menu had some very different and tasty food. Location wise the hotel was great. Smack in the middle of Michigan Ave. One thing that was annoying is the fact that the main lobby is on the 3rd floor and you can’t go from the ground floor to your room without getting off at the 3rd floor and changing elevators. The bellmen and front desk employees were friendly and knowledgeable. They even showed me where I could grab a bite to eat at 3am. Will stay at the Omni every time I go to Chicago!

If you stay at the Omni try the White Truffle Popcorn! They also had a breakfast buffet which was very good at a reasonable price with omelets made to order!

Excellent stay

This hotel is one of the best I have ever stayed in. Very clean and well maintained. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Definately will stay there again.

Great hotel located along a nice strip of places to shop and eat all within walking distance. The service was excellent and would most definitely stay at one of their hotels again.

Travel from the airport is costly by cab. I would recommend taking the subway to save A LOT of money.

Very Impressed

Starting from the second I got out of the cab, the service at the Omni was impeccable. The staff was amazingly attentive, the room was well-appointed and clean, and the location of the hotel is wonderful. Downtown Chicago at its best is just out the door. The suite was a great set-up for our family. The restaurant in the hotel was some of the best food we had during our trip!

Great Weekend Get Away!

My Husband and I had a great, romantic weekend get away in Chicago. The Omni was beautiful, and well located on Michigan Ave.

Loved the Suite room!

We really enjoyed having the 2 room suite. There were a few occasions when one of us wanted to take a nap, turn in early or get up early. Having the separate areas enabled us to do this without disturbing the other. One thing we did not like was the floor we were on. We were on the 5th floor which is the same as the pool & fitness area. At first we thought that would be great but we did so much in town that we usually were too tired to enjoy the pool. Our room was also supposed to be overlooking Michigan Ave.. It did but not directly. When we looked out the window we got a wonderful view of the Omni Sundeck & if we weren’t careful anyone out there would get a wonderful view of us. Aside from those minor drawbacks -- which had we complained I am sure they would have changed our room, I was extremely pleased with the other features of the hotel. Staff was extremely helpful & always greeted us when we returned from a day of sightseeing. The door men always gave us the best directions. Business center is well kept & comfortable to use.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Look into getting the Chicago Go card but be careful when planning. Some of the attractions can only be used until 5 PM. Check out the hours of the museums before you go. Some have "late nights" If you use the card on one of these nights you must enter before a certain time. This may allow you to do 2 attractions on the same day.

The Omni is a truly fantastic hotel. The staff of this hotel are so nice, helpful and friendly. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The Omni was our home away from home.

Always Impressed

A terrific place to stay for any age goup including families with small children. Wonderful location for shopping dining. Everyone on staff goes above an beyond to satify. I have stayed at this hotel several times. I never had to complain. I only hate it when its time to leave because everyone is so friendly and hospitable.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

If unfamilar with area take advantage of using the concierge. They are the excellent with: helping map out your tour, finding a great place to dine and making your reservations (even at last minute)printing boarding passes,etc. They Rock!!!!!

Good Location

Our first room was on the 5th floor with the pool and exercise facility. The entire floor smelled like chlorine from the pool. The next day they moved us to the 11th floor. Much better. The room is spacious and nicely appointed. The rest of the weekend was great.
