Solid Hotel

Hotel Sax is a quality hotel...its at a great location right in the heart of Chicago’s most prime hotspots...if ur going to a show at the House of Blues then this hotel is perfect!! ITs like 10 feet away. There is so much around, you cant possibly do it all in one day....overall quality of the hotel is top notch with a great night life...in and around the hotel. The bar is impressive and at around 10 or 11pm its like a night club it self....very satisfied with my stay!!

Great hotel, great location!!

We blindly picked this hotel and when talking about our trip anyone who was familiar with the hotel said it was great, we were going to love it, great location, etc. They were right! We loved the hotel, the location and can’t wait to go back!

SUPERB AS ALWAYS

WE HAVE BEEN STAYING AT THE SAX SINCE IT WAS THE HOUSE OF BLUES HOTEL.. WHEN IT SWITCHED TO THE SAX HOTEL THEY DID A REALLY NICE UPGRADE AND OVERHAUL... THE HOTEL AND THE STAFF ARE AS NICE AS ANYWHERE YOU MAY GO AND I HAVE STAYED AT ALOT OF NICE HOTELS. GREAT LOCATION-GREAT HOTEL- GREAT SERVICE

Party Hotel

This hotel was very nice and is close to everything Chicago has to offer. Just remember to be ready to party, cause this place was hoppin.

Technically sound but unsatisfying

There was nothing specific wrong with the facilities, but there was a cold, bureaucratic feel to the service that made me want to try another hotel next time. The service was not particularly efficient nor inefficient, just not particularly hospitable.

Not so great

For starters, lobby is pumped with a strong perfumy smell, and it’s like this ALL THE TIME. It’s all very icky.I had requested our fridge be cleaned of all mini-bar items since the fridge electronic. If you take anything out, you automatically pay for it. When I confirmed our reservation they said it would be fine and they would have it ready. When I arrived, the fridge was not cleaned out. I called front desk and they said there is fee, which I can’t specify in this review. The bathroom had a pedestal sink and no other storage area, so you set your stuff on the floor.For the bowling they say you get a free game. If there are two of you, you each get a free game they say. We later found out this means one game that the two of you play together. They said, "you each get a free game." After we were done, and had played 3 games (6 games by their definition) We had to pay a ridiculous amount for bowling! We asked someone at the front desk where the nearest liquor store was. She directed us to a store about a mile away. We came across two liquor stores one block away from the hotel. If she doesn’t know what’s within a one block radius of the hotel, she probably shouldn’t give advice. Besides not liking the hotel, the location was perfect for us - close to trains, buslines, etc. We didn’t have a car and it was easy to walk and use public transportation. We each bought a 3 day CTA pass and used it about 5 times per day, so we really got our money’s worth.

Great location, great service

I just spent a long weekend at Hotel Sax. The accommodations were very good. the service was great. We could walk to just about everything we wanted to do. Bin 36 (restaurant connected to hotel) was a great early evening place to go before dinner. Great wine tasting menu! Only problem was a loud neighbor whose alarm clock went off at high volume for hours while they were not in the room, but security came immediately and turned it off. They must have also spoken with the guest because the noise definitely decreased. The concierge was great also. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants convenience, service and comfortable accommodations, and an escape from traditional chain hotels.

We had a very nice stay. Fantastic trendy bar and nightclub, great room, good location with House of Blues next door. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

MY FAVORITE BOUTIQUE HOTEL FOR TRAVELLING

Love this hotel and the location as well as the staff and room service rocks as well as the restaurant - if you are a var person they have one - a little too noisy for me with this being business trips BUT they have computers to get your emails and ALWAYS a sweet when you check-in - another lovely touch...and they are a "GREEN" HOTEL AS WELL....

Nice, good location

The Hotel Sax was very nice. It was clean, decent sized rooms, in a great location and the hotel staff was very polite. It’s located right by the House of Blues, which has great food and some good shows and entertainment options just steps from the front door. A few minor negatives - the shower was a little old, there is no counter space in the bathroom, and there is no hair dryer. Overall good though, I would still recommend it for location, cleanliness and price.

Great location

I love to stay at this hotel when I go downtown. It’s a great location, close to shopping and great restaurants. It’s particularly convenient if you’re going to see a show at the House of Blues, which is right next door.

Best Hotel Location in the City for Entertainment

The Sax Hotel has a prime location as it is only one city block away from Hubbard Street bars/clubs, five to ten minute walk to Michigan Ave., and along the river. If you are spending the weekend in Chicago for leisure and looking for a deal, pick this hotel. Its a tad more expensive than some other options but worth it for the location (so close that I walked everywhere and didn’t make much use of the transit system).

Really great value

My 15 year old daughter thought the hotel was very classy. A darker motif but our room overlooked dearborn street and was light and nice! Service was great! Will chose them again for a weekend.

Very convenient for downtown

Great hotel....only problem that we had was it was a little dark in the halls...Very nice staff and very clean and comfortable. Nice big Panasonic flat panel tv in room...Free wifi....Highly Recomend this hotel.

Nice Hotel but Parking is a rip off

The hotel is very nice. The rooms are very clean. The only problem I had was the valet parking was $49 dollars. I couldn’t believe that they charged that much for parking.

Perfect for girls weekend.

Myself and three girlfriends (all in our 50s) spent a long weekend at the Hotel Sax. It was just perfect. We really loved the room with all the mirrors on the wall because when four "girls" are getting ready it takes a lot of mirrors. The conceirge service was wonderful. They have directions to everything you could possibly want to go to. One time when we were short on towels I called and we had them in a few minutes.

We couldn’t have been happier with the location. We walked to shopping on Michigan Ave. as well as closer shopping just a right turn out of the hotel. We walked to the Willis tower. We walked to all the restaurants. We only used the free shuttle to Navy Pier so we spent no money on cabs and this was great.

A good option

Nice hotel, more unique than the typical chain, and a great location close to trains, attractions, restaurants.
