Oh what a night!

I was in Chicago to attend a members’ event at the Art Institute and I also treated myself to Jersey Boys that evening. The Hampton Majestic was a perfect home away from home for a woman staying alone in the Loop since it’s a short two blocks from the museum and shares the same building with the Bank of America Theater. The staff was friendly, the hotel is charming, and amenities include a nice breakfast. I felt completely safe and pampered.

Chicago now rivals Broadway with its vibrant theater offerings. Besides the big touring shows, try the Goodman, Steppenwolf and also sample some of the smaller, cutting edge houses such as Neo Futurists.

Love the Majestic!

For value and location, the Majestic is the best. Everyone is very friendly, from the bellman to the front desk to the maids. The hotel is conveniently located in the loop and is within walking distance to several theaters, restaurants, museums and shopping.

The Bank of America Theater is next door and "Jersey Boys" is running until January 10th. If you have a chance to see it, you will not be disappointed.

Nice hotel

The staff were very helpful, the location was perfect, and the rooms were clean. We go to Chicago every two years and we’ll be staying at this place again.

Good Location; Friendly Staff

We stayed here for the Chicago Marathon and are glad we did. While I went to bed early the night before the race, my wife went next door to see "The Jersey Boys". The theater is literally next door. The next morning, I only had to walk a few blocks to the marathon starting line. Our room was a little small, but the staff was very friendly. The hotel is also less than a block away from the Monroe Blue Line station, so getting to and from O’Hare is really easy.

Perfect for leisure/business

Hotel was very clean. Service great. Breakfast was very good, great variety. Rooms are small, but comfortable. Walking distance to Sears (willis) tower, round the corner of many shopping stores, drug stores, starbucks, dunkin donuts, etc. A couple blocks from Magnificent Mile. Walked to Navy Pier, about 20-30- minute walk. Took L to Chicago white sox game, easy access from hotel. Great stay at Hotel and Chicago!

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Water taxis are great. Take one to Navy Pier, save time and enjoy a ride in Chicago River. Lots of outdoor activites at Riverwalk, bike rides, segway tours, etc. Take your walking shoes, lots of places to walk Downtown Chicago.

You get much more than what you pay for

Our visit was 9/23-9/26/2009. The Majestic’s aesthetic appeal, service, and location make it an excellent value. The double-bed room the we booked was completely modern and very spacious. The photos on the website actually under-state the roominess. All finishes and furniture are brand new. The service was outstanding at all different times of day and the desk was very accommodating of special requests. I would add 1/2 to 1 star to any rating of this hotel that you find online to compensate for the quality of what’s inside.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The hotel is just 2 blocks away from Millenium Park and the Art Institute, 1/2 block away from several transit lines, and a short cab ride away from the Majestic Mile and other major attractions. Take the trains and buses- they are very clean and TIMELY. The best non-touristy place to eat nearby is The Gage and it too has excellent service.

Wonderful place to stay

My wife and I travel a lot and this hotel was one of the best we’ve stayed in. Clean rooms and the service was EXCELLENT. The hotel staff were friendly from the free breakfast to late night when we needed extra towels. Location is very good as it’s only a few blocks from shopping, the lake front and Millennium Park.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Take the Blue Rail Line from O’Hare airport to around the corner from the hotel, so you dont have to pay for expensive taxis.

Perfect location at a great price!

Shhh! Don’t tell anyone that the Majestic is such a great find! It is the perfect spot from which to explore the Loop and Magnificent Mile. Less than a block from both the Blue and Red Line subway, 2-3 blocks from Michigan Avenue and Millennium Park, next door to the theater (we saw the Jersey Boys, which was fabulous)! The Willis Tower is a few blocks away and there are plentiful restaurants of varying descriptions. There is no doubt that I will stay there again.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

You pay the price for having a car in Chicago, $42. a day for parking in our case, though traffic wasn’t that bad on the weekend. Fly in to O’Hare and take the Blue Line right to the hotel. It’s a long ride, but uneventful.

Room without a view

Our room was on the 6th floor and the in order for us to look out the window we had to stand on top of a chair, and then our view was of a roof top. I would highly recommend staying on a floor above the 6th floor if you want a window that you can see out of. Vending machine on the floor was empty when we arrived and it remained empty when we left.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Great location. Walking distance from great shopping, shows, the lake front and some of Chicago’s finest restaurants

Perfect for theater & arts

Perfect location for going to the theater or art museum. Parking is pricey, but once the car is parked in garage you can walk anywhere you want to go.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Don’t arrive near show time at the theater. Traffic (foot & car) is a mess.

Great location, good value

This hotel is only a block and a half from the Palmer House at a fraction of the cost. Plus it provides a full free breakfast. I stayed at both hotels for business and wish I had stayed only at the Hampton. (Palmer House was nice, but cost a lot more.)

Perfect for theater goers

We had tickets to see "Jersey Boys" and chose this hotel because of the location and the price. What a perfect spot, next door to the theater and just around the corner from State St. shopping. We were allowed to check in early and leave our car with the valet. The hotel was quiet, clean, updated, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely use this hotel again.

Great value, location and staff - would go back in a heartbeat!

I have stayed at a few other hotels in downtown Chicago, but once I found the Majestic I will never stay anywhere else. The staff is the best - from the bellman to the front desk to the maids. All very friendly and extremely helpful. The bellman will gladly recommend restaurants or things to do while you are in the city. The location of the Majestic couldn’t be better - right next to the Bank of America theater and within walking distance to several others. Also right around the corner from State Street and lots of shopping. The art museum is also within walking distance. The breakfast buffet is great - nice selection and always plentiful. I will be going back to Chicago soon and can’t wait to see my friends at the majestic!

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Do not miss seeing "Jersey Boys" at the Bank of America Theater. I’ve seen many Broadway shows over the years and this is by far the best. You will not be disappointed!
