Excellence that Surpasses Its Pricepoint Peers
While Hyatt Hotels are not luxury level -- that would be the Park Hyatt -- they are certainly luxurious in terms of service, dependability, and quality. The wonderful experience starts when you exit your taxi/shuttle/car and continues through checkout. The public areas are usually well-designed. You can always find a space that suits your needs, whether you are interested in dining, people-watching, drinking, or intimate conversation. This particular stay was better than usual because I had access to the Regency Club. The breakfast and hors doeuvre selections were surprisingly appealing with an international flair. Beverage and cocktail service was somewhat limited but much better than expected. The view from the lounge area was incredible and the plump veloeur furniture was calling for me at the end of each hectic day. Finally, the Hyatt Wacker Drive is perfectly positioned on the river and Magnificent Mile. You are 5-10 minute walk from most of your hearts delights and the same taxi timeframe just expands your options. I find that Hyatts somehow manage to snap up the best locations. In this era of cost-cutting, it seems that Hyatt is still able to provide a quality offering that surpasses its pricepoint peers.

Flashing Lights
Remote control for the television was broken. I had fluorescent lights flashing outside my window all night which was quite annoying.

Impressed
1. GREAT Location: at the foot of the Magnificent Mile. Short taxi rides to many major attractions - Shedd Aquarium, Soldier Field, Sears Tower, great restaurants, etc. 2. GREAT Price: Expedia special was, at the time, the best deal on a downtown Chicago hotel. Other reviews expressed concerns about the tidiness of this hotel - our experience was excellent in this regard. 3. GREAT Service: Hotel staff very pleasant. Room cleaned daily, even though we kept odd hours. 4. GOOD Facilities: Lack of a swimming pool is a minor drawback. 5. POOR Internet Service: Even though it is done commonly, I take offense to having to pay for internet service. But in cases where there is a fee for internet, there should be a complimentary business center to check email and map out directions. This hotel failed me in both regards.

Hyatt Regency Chicago
The Hyatt Regency was in a great location at a very fair price. The staff were helpful and friendly ( although our room was not clean when we arrived and they didnt offer an upgrade or even a breakfast coupon, or just something to simply make it right. They just said we could move to another room that had the view of the side of a building.) Overall, our stay was great and the hotel was nice. Our room had a great view of the Hancock building and it was overlooking the river.

Great Hotel - Very Impressed
Ive been to Chicago many times, but never for pleasure. I felt this hotel was in a great location for seeing many of Chicagos sights. It wasnt too far from any major attraction. Cab rides cost us $8-10 max. to the aquarium or Sears Tower. We were in walking distance to the Michigan Avenue shops. The staff was extremely friendly, especially the concierge, doormen, and bag checkers. We didnt eat at the in-house restaurant but we did frequent the snack bar that served Starbucks coffees, muffins, etc. Our room faced another apartment building but if you get lucky, youll get a room that faces down Michigan Avenue - not a big deal to us, we were only there to sleep. I am definitely going back and I am definitely staying at this hotel.

Comofortable and affordable
The best I can say is the breakfast buffet in this hotel was above expectation and delicious. Service was great, views fantastic. The only minus is that being an older hotel, the age and wear was very noticeable in the bathroom and the fixtures. For a Hyatt I was surprised with the cracked tub and rust stains, as well as the walls that needed wiping. Everything else was fantastic for such an economical weekend in Chicago.

Christmas in Chicago
My husband and I have spent a fair amount of time in Chicago but this was our first trip around the holidays. We have always stayed on the southern end of Michigan Ave due to price. When looking to book a hotel for this special trip through Expedia, I was impressed to find a hotel 1 block off Michigan at the start of the magnificent mile. The location was perfect for shopping and sightseeing and the price was great. We had made several plans to eat out and enjoy the nightlife downtown, but given the many bars and restaurants in the hotel we always ended up staying in the hotel. Both the food and the service were wonderful.

Great location, good service, not enough heat
We wife and I stayed 5 days while I attended a conference. The location is very handy and connects directly into the pedway. It was a good stay. The room decor was a little dog-eared for a Hyatt Regency. But my only complaint was that, no matter what we set the thermostat to, the room temperature was limited to about 70. Fine for some I guess but, not being used to rainy, windy, chilly November in Chicago weather, we were cold.

Beautiful Hyatt Regency
This is a gorgeous hotel, and the staff are totally focused on hospitality. The check-in clerk was so incredibly gracious and full of information (Rocco). The hotel is extremely well-located and has everything youd want.

Chicago getaway
The Hyatt Regency was great location for walking everywhere. The atmosphere was definitely convention style with lots of people and a convention center feel. Staff were very friendly. The only problem with our room was that is was across from the icemaker with no door so we could hear it making ice-quite noisy. Hotel gave us a credit on our bill.
Make reservations for Table 52 in advance of your trip as reservations are difficult to get. We were lucky and it was a great meal!

Great Location: Near Everything
When I booked this hotel I was worried because the reviews said it was dirty. I honestly booked it because it was cheap. First of all this place isnt dirty. It is clean and pretty. There are so many great restaurants around there. A dunks down stairs anddddd it is on the river with a wicked nice view. Internet was not much to be desired for, it was very archaic.

Wonderful service
Cant say enough about the staff at this hotel. They were over-the-top helpful with anything and everything. Our trip was not business related, and unfortunately there were several conferences going on when we checked in on Thursday, which meant that every restaurant and lounge in the place was packed with conference attendees. Very nice hotel. I would definitely recommend it.

Filthy room
The shower curtain was covered with black fungus. There was no water pressure in the shower. The carpet was dirty and stained. Room service missed aluminum beer tabs left on the floor. The duvet on the bed had food, not stains on it. On a good note, the bed was comfortable.
Swisottel, 2 blocks away, was a wonderful hotel experience and highly recommended.

Great Location
Although the hotel has a great location, just a fews steps from Michigan Ave. (Magnificent Mile), and cleanliness/service was out of discussion, the more than expected pasta dinner on saturday night did not match for the price.

Would recommend to a friend
We stayed at the Hyatt for our Chicago Marathon weekend, and it was the perfect hotel for the race weekend. The location is great, the room was nice and the service was fantastic too. No complaints. If you need a marathon hotel, this is a good pick.

Excellent Value
I stayed one night at the Hyatt while attending a two day meeting in relation to a conference at another nearby hotel on the other side of the river. The Hyatt offered the typically excellent amenities and service of a Hyatt, which was not surprising since Hyatts founfing Pritzker family is from Chicago. My Expedia rate at the Hyatt was more than $100 per night less than the discounted rate offered to conference attendees at the other hotel. The 5 minute walk from the Hyatt was not only safe, but a great way to experience a bit of Chicago while on a tight schedule. Thanks Expedia!
For not only a savings of money but also to avoid the uncertainty of rush hour traffic, I recommend taking the L from OHare to the stop in the Loop, then get a cab from there to the hotel.

Hyatt Regency Chicago
Horrible rooms with absolutely no matching furniture. Executive floor very disapointing too. The hotel should be completely refurbished. Keycards to the elevator had to be replaced 7 times within a 5 days stay. This is unnacceptable.

Great Hotel for the Chicago Marathon
Stayed for the Chicago Marathon--great location to get to and from the race. About a 1 mile jog to the start corals. Also close to Michigan Ave where everything is happening. Featured a bathtub (some hotels dont) for pre and post-race ice bath; ice machines had plenty of ice. Although expensive, the eatery in the lobby had plenty of bananas, water and gatorade (among other things). The bed was comfortable. The elevators are very fast, so dont worry if you get put on a really high floor.
Traveler's tip on dining
If you are looking for a great burger, I recommend Elephant and Castle located on Monroe Street, about 1 mile from the hotel. Its an English-themed pub; the food is very reasonably priced.
