Amalfi Hotel Chicago

Great location for seeing the sights and getting to things easily.

We loved the hotel from the minute we checked in. The rooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast was convenient and included as was a daily cocktail hour. We stay there again without hesitation.

The Chicago River Architectural Tour is not to be missed. We also loved going to the Art Museum with its extensive collection of Impressionist art. Also loved Second City comedy review. Be sure to visit the Tribune Building with its more than 150 pieces of famous buildings. Great place for tapas is Cafe BaBa Rebe in Lincoln Park. Fun night and a great way to dine!

Service at the Amalfi was superb. From the doorman to the desk clerks to housekeeping staff, everyone made our stay a pleasure.

Clean Modern Business useful

I was so happy with not only the size of my room, but the way the space was utilized. Plenty of outlets with in reach of the desk. The table under the desk even had wheels to roll out for eating dinner from a close by HUB 51 and Harey Careys in the comfort of my quiet room. The bed was super comfy plenty of pillows. The large bathroom AND Aveda bathroom products.. bonus. I am definately a fan of this hotel.

Hub 51 is around the corner comfortable YP crowd and plenty of tv’s at the bar or great vibe for hosting business associates or friends with a delicious menu. Harey Carey’s across the street for the usual steak. So many safe places to get to within walking distance!

Hotel and room was extremely clean. The staff was very friendly and professional. Breakfast, evening cocktails and appetizers were a great bonus. Very satisfied overall with this hotel. (Only suggestion to the hotel would be to supply softer towels.)

Wonderful customer service!

The Amalfi hotel was a great place to stay for the Chicago Marathon. They had a 3 pm check out for the runners, so I was able to shower and pack up after the race, instead of struggling to get it all together so early in the morning. They also put out a special breakfast with water, gatorade, bananas and granola bars by 5:30 am. It was a great place & location and I look forward to returning again.

I’d stay again but be specific about your room when you book

We had booked three king bed rooms. Sizes of the rooms varied quite a bit. In the small one you could hardly find a place to open 2 travel sized suitcases. Others rooms assigned to our group had enough space for a club chair and ottoman. One room (on the front of the building) also had one of the building flood lights right underneath the window. Blackout curtains weren’t enough to make it dark. The breakfast was a good value. Parking garage ’medium’ priced for downtown at $44 per night.

Free downtown trolley two blocks from the hotel. Also Metro stop close by.

Great Hotel and Location

Great hotel and location. Only disappointment was the price to valet park car overnight!!

Great Location

Nice hotel, could walk to all the places of interest. Added touch was the complimentary breakfast served on each floor. Fruit, yogurt, juices, bagels, english muffins etc. Complimentary cocktails every evening.

Short walk to a very good Brazilian Steak House Brazzaz - but go hungry. WOuld also recommend LuxBar and Carmines in the Gold Coast area.

Luxury at an affordable price

I travel frequently throughout the year but on this pleasure trip we booked a sleeper car on the Cardinal (Amtrak) from Cincinatti. When we arrived at the Amalfi at 11:30 am to our surprise the room was ready and avaiable. The front desk was extremely pleasant, cordial and helpful throughout our stay. They can help in booking entertainment, sight seeing, tours or dinner reservations. The bellman was most gracious and helpful at checkin (and checkout, too) noting that our coffee pot was missing. It was replaced in a jiffy. The King Sized (Bed)room was extremely spacious and the bed soooo luxurious as was the bathroom. The hotel was decorated beautifully and had an enchanting aroma upon entering. Continental breakfast is served on EVERY floor in the elevator foyer and a free cocktail reception with hors d’oeuvres is held EVERY night in the 6th floor lounge. We were on the 6th floor and there were some conference (meeting) rooms on our floor as well. The hotel was extremely quiet with tight door closures meeting the floor. This is the most fabulous hotel for the price in Chicago. It is on the corner of Kinzie and State across from Harry Cary’s restaurant...a short cab ride from Union Station. Catching a cab is no problem since many sit in wait for customers outside the hotel entrance. This is my hotel when I travel to Chicago...I’ll not stay at another. It beats the "name brand chains" hands down. Rest well and relax...you deserve it!

Traveler's tip on shopping

The Amalfie is relatively close to Michigan Avenue (The Magnificent Mile) and the shops on State Street, if you don’t mind walking. Take sturdy walking shoes if you’re staying in the city for a few days. There are many, many locations to dine within easy walking distance. Around the corner was a great place with outside seating called Sullivan’s and The Red Fish Grill is next door. You can’t possibly go wrong staying at this hotel with its proximity to the great shopping venues in town.

Amalfi Chicago - excellent service!

When I first arrived I was a bit concerned. This is not a huge hotel chain and thought I may have made a poor choice. However, the service and quiality of staff was excellent. Free wireless and breakfast was very nice and something the bigger chains would charge for. The fitness facility was adequate but not extensive. The way I look at it, when I travel all I need is a clean place to sleep and friendly staff. That was definitely delivered.

Close walk to public transportation that gets you to all attractions and right in the middle between Wrigley and US Cellular for you baseball fans.

loved the stay, room size could be bigger, but we only needed a place to sleep, definitely enojoyed the free cocktails the evening, and loved the smiley staff!!

Pretty nice

Overall nice hotel. Very comfortable and nice staff. Continental breakfast consists of pastry, fruit, juice, and coffee available on each floor. Also happy hour with free drinks available for guest to enjoy. Only discrepancy was that I could never reach the front desk on the phone for assistance. I had to use my cell phone to get an answer.

Love Chicago, love Amalfi!

The beds and linens are divine! Would now like to put double showerheads in my bath at home. Enjoyed the Aveda products. For those who stay multiple nights, it would be good to have a little change up of menu items at the evening cocktail buffet. But the items were fresh and nicely displayed.

Great bargain!

I got a lot for my money, including a nice ( not lavish) room with a CD and DVD player, free food in the evening and free breakfast, and a 24-hour business center and (though I didn’t use it this time) an exercise room. The service was fine all around, and I recommend the Amalfi highly!

Wonderful stay

Fantastic hotel. Cocktails and appetizers served in the evening and continental breakfast on each floor in the morning. Excellent service. Overnight parking a bit pricey (cheaper in nearby lots, although you could come and go on hotel lot). Great location. We walked to everything.

Very Nice Place

The Amalfi Hotel is a very nice place. Hotel staff all seemed very courteous. You really can’t beat the location for the price we found on Expedia. All of the major tourist attractions downtown were within walking distance. And the subway was only a block away for those attractions outside of town (Cubs or Whitesox game in my situation). The continental breakfast was a nice add-in as well.

Very Nice Hotel

Very nice hotel, we were very pleased with the cleanliness and the overall look of our rooms. The complimentary breakfast on each floor was a plus. The bathroom was the biggest I have ever seen for a hotel room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will recommend this hotel to anyone I hear is headed to Chicago.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

There is a free trolley less than 2 blocks from the hotel that runs to Navy Pier. Once at Navy Pier we took the water taxi to Shedd Aquarium. If you purchase a ticket for an architectural tour they give you a free water taxi ride back to Navy Pier. Then catch the free trolley home. The water taxi is a good way to get the skyline from the lake without paying for a tour. The taxi ride is 20 min long where the tour is 30 min and 3 times more expensive.

A great find

Loved this hotel! Very stylish and in a great section of town. The beds were SUPER comfortable and we loooved the double-headed shower! Also, the continental breakfast was very good. This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in in Chicago, and a really great price, too.

Service can’t be beat

Very impressed with the Amalfi. Everyone was helpful and immediately addressed any concerns that we had, no matter how minor. Great stay.
