"Reasonably priced and layed-back"
A 20 minute walk to Plaza del Armas. Staff (familia) was helpful with our changing travel plans. A little noisy at night (dogs and cars). Overall, clean, friendly and reasonably priced.

Pirwa Hostel San Blas

"Well located"
If you are placed on the house on top of the main building, as I was, you will enjoy a gorgeous view of Cusco. The hostel is located in the neighborhood San Blas; uphill from the downtown area of Cusco. It's close to Plaza de Armas, and using that as a reference, you will not get lost in the city. Going up the hill is breath-taking, literally. The hostel provides a continental breakfast, and free wifi. However, improvement should be made in the bathroom; hot water is not hot, its barely warm. and with the 60s temperatures of the city in the off season, you will want this addressed.

Pocket Guide: Cusco Historic Center Cusco 1 star Hotels

The Old and the New World intersect in Cusco: This fair city was remade in the image of Spain after conquistadors crushed the Inca in the 1500s. This colonial heritage is most evident at the Plaza de Armas, home to three baroque churches. To see the vestiges of the Incas, pass through the bohemian enclave of San Blas in the hills above central Cusco, and head north to the Sacsayhuaman fortress.
