"Off the main road, QUIET!"
I love this place. It's not new, it's old and a little run down. It's immaculate! My room was good sized. Lots of towels & soaps. All the linens were very nice. 3 nice pillows. The heater worked great. TV worked great, wi-fi most of the time. Very friendly staff. Nice continental breakfast. Comfortable is the best way to describe this hotel. The price is great. It's not on a main road or hiway so it's fairly quiet. I was in a room in the back of the hotel and didn't hear any traffic from outside. This is my second time here and I will definitely stay here again.

"Lots of clean rooms"
A good place to stay. 25 minute wait to check in was a bit long though.

"Everything I Needed"
I booked three nights at the 401 while I was waiting to take possession of my apartment. I chose it for three reasons: the price, the location (close to my job), and the fact that it's pet-friendly. I was concerned that the room would be run-down or dirty, since it was such a good deal. This was not the case at all! It was basic, yes. It was older, yes. But it was very clean and well-kept. I had to look under the bed to find my cat a couple of times and the floor was spotless; the cleaning staff obviously do their jobs. The bed itself was comfortable, the furnishings were tasteful, and the room was everything I needed - complete with a mini-fridge and microwave, a desk with a nice chair, and a standard bathroom. It didn't have the "extras" that a bigger chain might provide, but that's precisely what I didn't want to pay for. There's coffee on downstairs all day, and the lady at the front desk was one of the nicest people I've encountered since I moved to the city. She's genuine and helpful, and she makes a point to call guests by name. By necessity, the location isn't the quietest (right beside Grandview Highway AND Boundary Road). However, it wasn't sketchy, either - which was the bigger concern for me. If you don't mind some traffic sounds, it's actually a delightfully convenient place to wake up and start your day in Vancouver. Plenty of off-street parking, too, in a secure, treed lot. I would absolutely recommend the 401 to anybody. Affordable, tidy, friendly, and safe.

"nice hotel connected to mall and sky train"
Hats off to Angelica and Siggy, the breakfast workers! They were so attentive and efficient and kind!!! We switched rooms after 1st night due to noise and construction. Even though lots of people had checked out the morning we switched, for some reason it was hard for them to relocate us. They put us in a smaller bedroom, with a strong smell of febreeze to cover up something, and the toilet in that room was having troubles. Carpet was run down, but otherwise beds and everything were very comfortable. The cold air blowing through the windows and air conditioner unit in both rooms made it so cold. but turning on the heat, even at lowest setting made it too hot. Loved the location of this hotel. Right in the hub of everything. Staff were all friendly.

"Not fancy but clean and convenient "
A converted apartment and it was great to have the kitchen. A little hard to find but nice and close to Skytrain. Not fancy but a good deal for the price. Very clean and very quiet.
