Fresh, modern and recently updated (including a brand-new roof and insulation!), our mid-century A-frame style chalet is on a high, quiet cul-de-sac in the most desirable area of Big Bear Lake: Moonridge. Perched at the top of a hill, it features stunning slope views of both Bear Mountain and Snow Summit.

This is our dream cabin, and when we’re not hosting guests, we try to spend as much time here as possible! Please keep in mind as you plan your stay that this is our family home which we have lovingly updated and upgraded to be a place where we would want to stay as guests–please help us to maintain it, as if it were your own home.

ARRIVAL:
As you wind through the Moonridge neighborhood, you’ll see Misty Mountain Chalet perched on a hill, surrounded by tall pine trees. Turn onto our street, and you’ll pull into a paved level parking pad with room for two cars.

Utilize the keyless entry as you enter and exit through our cheery red door. You’ll have a code for the length of your stay–making it easy to get in and out!

BATHROOM:
Our bathroom has been recently upgraded and renovated and we have a tankless water heater. We’ve installed a low-flow toilet and provide several amenities including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hairdryer, q-tips, and first aid necessities. Fluffy towels round out the offerings.

BEDROOM:
Our downstairs bedroom is a cozy and luxurious sleeping space outfitted with a lush queen mattress, multiple pillows, 100% cotton sateen sheets, down comforter with cotton duvet, and additional blankets as needed. This bedroom has storage in a mcm style dresser and space to hang a few items in the closet (that also houses extra supplies). Room darkening curtains and a thermostat and remote controlled infrared wall heater (Heat Storm) will help you sleep comfortably through the night (and well into the morning!)

KITCHEN/DINING:
We LOVE to cook! And we LOVE coffee. So we make sure you can do both (remember, we stay here, too–so we’ve stocked it with what we want and need!) Pots, pans, bowls, baking dishes and trays, utensils of all kinds–so you can stay in and cook the way you like! There’s a full-sized fridge and freezer, oven, 4 burner gas stove, microwave, toaster and electric water kettle. We get your cooking started with olive oil, salt and pepper and we also provide coffee and multiple ways to make it (Keurig, French press, grinder, frothing wand). Check out our rotating selection of cookbooks! We have dishes and glassware for adults and kiddos alike and provide soap and other necessities for when it comes time to wash up.

LIVING ROOM:
Cozy up on the couch in front of the fire. Catch up on your favorite shows with Amazon Fire Stick and a selection of apps, including Netflix and Disney+.

The couch folds out to a comfy foam queen bed, as needed. Extra linens/pillows are in the main bedroom closet.

A note about the fireplace: our all new gas fireplace makes it easy--just a flick of the switch and your fire is made! All of the cozy warmth and ambiance without any of the trouble.

DO NOT add wood, or burn anything in the fireplace. It is a fully self-contained gas system. Just use the remote to control the fireplace and set it to your preferences.

LOFT BEDROOM:
Get cozy under the A-frame tongue and groove ceiling in the sleeping portion of the loft. Check out the conditions on Bear Mountain while you snuggle up in the king size bed featuring 100% cotton sateen sheets, down comforter with cotton duvet, multiple pillows and additional blankets as needed. You can find some drawers for storage and a closet off to the side to store suitcases and hang a few necessities. The loft is clean and bright but also has room darkening curtains and shades.

LOFT HANG SPACE:
Breathtaking mountain views aren’t the only thing happening upstairs in the loft. Enjoy the chill vibes and lounge with your favorite shows on TV, play a small selection of games on our PS3 or Wii or check out the puzzles and family board games to make it a game night.

OUTDOOR: Take in the view of Bear Mountain and Snow Summit or gaze at the stars from the south-facing deck. Sip your coffee from the Adirondacks and bask in the sun while taking in the local nature and views. When you’re ready to cook, BBQ something delish for dinner on our gas grill.

CRITTERS: Our cabin is in nature and critters abound. There are woodpeckers, squirrels, rabbits, coyotes and more. It is not safe to leave dogs outside or unattended. We get some stray little black beetles inside sometimes, mosquitos are likely, flies too, and ants will probably happen at one point or another. Please just let us know if something becomes problematic (before it’s problematic) and we will do our best to solve it.

DOG-FRIENDLY: As for your little furry friends, we’ve left some supplies to make the stay (and the clean up) more pleasant for all. See our doggie basket with dog bowls, sheets to put on the furniture (should your doggo like to sit on the couch or bed) and a dog gate you can set up on the deck. Check out the supply of pet waste bags by the door–if you forgot your own–we expect all pet waste to be cleaned up by you anywhere on our property or in the neighborhood.

Accidents can happen–please disclose it to us so we can get things cleaned properly, while doing your best to clean it up with the supplies under the sink. Undisclosed accidents and damage will have a minimum fine of $100 plus the cost of cleaning.

TRASH: Big Bear does not provide trash service for vacation rentals. While our outdoor cans can be used to store your trash during your stay, any trash or bags left in the house or in our cans outside at the time of your departure will be charged at $25/bag for disposal. Please be sure to remove all trash, including pet waste when you depart.

All trash must be taken down to one of two city dump sites.
