The Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel Chicago Loop

"Love it here. Beds are comfortable. It’s central to everything we wanted to do. Restaurant had good hummus. Only complaint was the little guy who checked us in. We went to the fellow in the middle. He treated us like peasants. While the lady to the right and the gentleman to the left were so friendly and inquisitive. We asked the guy who held our bags about breakfast places. He was so helpful. The people in the restaurant were so nice. The mates went above and beyond. Just that one guy. Crazy because after we went upstairs and got ready for our event he treated us different. Anyway I LOVED everyone and everything about this place except for him. I believe we encountered 12 different people throughout our stay and all were just really genuinely nice people. I give 5 stars because I want people to stay here. Maybe give that guy some extra training or something. I came with 5 of my employees and even they were offended. Anyway! Thank you to everyone else.. we will be back!"

"I feel like we were catfished by the hotel. The bar that is supposedly in the hotel is not open and the lobby is empty of any amenities other than a TV playing movies. The staff wasn't friendly. They were polite when you draw their attention but they aren't going to interact with you unless you start the conversation. My husband and I stood at the front door trying to figure out how to get inside because some of the signage was confusing and when we call the phone number for the hotel there was no answer even though we could eventually see someone sitting at the front desk. Our room had several pieces of hardware that was not securely attached to the wall and the tile was chipped in the bathroom. The bed wasn't attached to the wall and squeaked anytime there was movement. Two days of our four day stay our room was not cleaned by housekeeping. The extras package is not available at the hotel location but at it's sister locations in other parts of the city so be mindful if you purchase it. The room was small but clean at check in. The L tracks run past the hotel so there is some train noise but it fades into the background as time passes. Overall the hotel is fine if you just want to have a place to sleep/shower. It's a nicer hostel and the L station is a 5 minute walk."

"We were getting in late so we reached out to inform them about a late check-in to prevent our reservation being cancelled. They were helpful and assured us tha wouldn’t be an issue - we’ve had this happen before elsewhere. Upon arriving we were greeted by the absolute sweetest lady. Ms Adrian, she was incredible. Helpful and made us feel welcomed immediately. As we came and went through our entire stay, she was always there. When we come back to Chicago, we will be staying here and one big reason is because of her!"

"The breakfast was awesome and it being free that even made it better it was even a hot breakfast and scrambled eggs biscuits and gravy etc the staff was great. The room needed to be updated and definitely cleaned better but the beds were awesome but just sliding door or the balcony sucked it was nasty was stuck you needed WD-40 so you can move the door. Or door to get into a room look like somebody had already broken in tell my son took a screwdriver that was in the car and tightened everything back up so I felt safer. But after it looked like it had been broken into it really wasn't any safer. But really it wasn't too bad around there it was pretty good so like I stayed at other places for the money it was just fine so I would give it all the way around a 6.5"

"CQ is a reliable brand as this property demonstrated. I was particularly pleased with the size of the room and fitness facility. Best CQ I have stayed at and would return. Two quibbles: No desk lamp, therefore a dark work area and no hand soap (use body gel? I bring my own). Housekeeping excellent."
