“We had a lovely short stay at Macbeth’s Hillock. The cottage was clean, cosy and comfortable, with everything we needed. We mainly stayed there overnight while travelling, but I also cooked dinner there, which worked very well. The location is peaceful, close to local sights, and right next to a farm with beautiful sheep, which made the stay feel even more charming. A very pleasant place for our short stay.”
“We didn't see a soul.
Check in was using a safe box to collect the key.
Check out was dropping the key into a safe box.
Room was clean and pleasant though and we had everything we needed.”
“The room was acceptable, the restaurant was fine, and most of the staff were pleasant (including the owner). The problem came when I asked for change for a 20 pound English note so I could leave a tip after I paid for dinner. The change I was given was Scottish currency. I was told that English currency was not available. And while it may have the same value as English currency, it is not readily accepted in other parts of the UK or in overseas territories. I had a bit of a disagreement over……
“Lift was not working but hotel did advise us ahead of stay which was nice, in case we wanted to switch. No A/C in hotel room, so it was a bit too warm and hard to sleep, even with a small fan. Otherwise, staff, hotel, room and grounds were lovely.”
“Room clean and comfortable, bathroom was shared and was not cleaned daily. Ran out of toilet roll on first night not staff around to ask for more. General upkeep of building was poor and needs updating. Looked like something from a horror movie on arrival and did think about leaving.”
